theisti (1180), Leawood, Kansas, USA Jan 3, 2008 12 oz. bottle from John Bryan, who received it directly from the Alaskan brewers when they visited Boulevard brewery. Pour is clear straw gold with a big off white head. Pretty pour. Aroma of some sweet maltiness and some bright, earthy hoppiness. Taste is interesting, fair amount of sweet caramel malt, with the piney (spruce tip) essence. This taste is really varied, I taste amber ale, lager, Marzen all kinds of stuff going on. Nice, silky palate, nice bitterness to the finish. Thanks again for this one John.
SuperDave70 (929), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA Nov 29, 2008 Clear copper pour with a small head that fizzes away quickly. Aroma of malt and citrus. Sweet malty fruit flavor with just a hint of spice and hops. Alright. danielcurtis81 (262), San Diego, California, USA Nov 27, 2008 Draft. Pours copper with a white head. Strong orange smells. Good orange flavors, a pine aftertaste. Very clean and crisp. Wegro (178), Fresno, California, USA Nov 20, 2008 Updated: Nov 27, 2008Pours a nice clear copper, smells piney and earthy. tastes the same, kind of minty, finishes clean with a little bit of alcohol warmth. VERY similar to anderson valley’s winter solstice. not bad, but not what i was expecting. too much carmel sweetness. Dmalone102 (115), Denver, Colorado, USA Nov 20, 2008 This surprised me with the color! It has a bright copper color, I guess all winter warmers don’t have to be dark. The flavor is very heavy on the malt balance. It is very carmally, and somewhat cloying. Lagunitasfan (95), San Diego, California, USA Nov 18, 2008 Non descript was the headline of my notes. Safe orange color with no head. Semi-sweet on the nose. A bit of sharpness that rounds off in the mouth. As it warms it improves. Lingers nicely.
