This one is a winner, and that might be because it appears to be a clone of another winner, Alba Scot ale. Spiced aroma. Flavor has lots of pine and medium sweet malt, but not perceivable hops and that is OK. Alcohol seems low for an old ale, maybe a spiced beer instead.

Nov 29, 2008 Clear copper pour with a small head that fizzes away quickly. Aroma of malt and citrus. Sweet malty fruit flavor with just a hint of spice and hops. Alright.

Nov 27, 2008 Draft. Pours copper with a white head. Strong orange smells. Good orange flavors, a pine aftertaste. Very clean and crisp.

Nov 20, 2008 Updated: Nov 27, 2008Pours a nice clear copper, smells piney and earthy. tastes the same, kind of minty, finishes clean with a little bit of alcohol warmth. VERY similar to anderson valley’s winter solstice. not bad, but not what i was expecting. too much carmel sweetness.

Nov 20, 2008 This surprised me with the color! It has a bright copper color, I guess all winter warmers don’t have to be dark. The flavor is very heavy on the malt balance. It is very carmally, and somewhat cloying.

Nov 18, 2008 Non descript was the headline of my notes. Safe orange color with no head. Semi-sweet on the nose. A bit of sharpness that rounds off in the mouth. As it warms it improves. Lingers nicely.
