Drank on tap (12 oz) at the brewpub on June 9, 2013. Black, medium head. Aroma of chocolate barley, licorice notes. Cocoa and licorice barley taste, with notes of fruit, taste sweet coffee. Double pleasure!

(Rating #4661)

My Bottom Line:
This generously-nitroed strong Stout outlines light chocolate, roast and raisins before leafy hops and torrefied malts contribute balancing bitterness.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-Creamy foam icing tops the blackness.
-Even though the flavor profile is cohesive throughout, I’d prefer a version in which the nitro is toned down to truly appreciate malts’ flavors.
-Alcohol warmth adds a touch of depth to every sip. Even though it looks like one, this is far from a Guinness knock-off.
-The mouthfeel is bloated but extremely smooth. This makes for a dangerous pint at 7.5% abv.

On tap at the brewpub.
