On tap at the brewpub. Nice very dark brown pour, almost black with lots of foamy head. Aroma of chocolate, bread, fruity sugars (plums) and nuts. Taste is quite sweet and chocolatey, it lacks a bit of hop bitterness for balance. Palate is light-medium bodied with very low carbonation (feels almost like a cask ale).

(Rating #3432)

My Bottom Line:
Vanilla-laced young oak aromas and flavors serve this Porter’s grain bill really well, tagging along roasted and nutty depths.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the darkest brown.
-Carbonation is really low, since this is a version served by gravity.
-Roasted malt bitterness and wooden cask dryness are nicely levelled.
-I’m really looking forward to trying the "regular" version, as I get the impression the young oak cask imparts lots of its personality.
From a wooden cask, served by gravity, at the brewpub.
