Drank on tap (20 oz) at the brewpub, on July 24, 2011. Black, medium beige head. Aroma of smoked meat and bacon, oat malt notes. Good oat malt taste slightly smoky, with notes of berries, fruity sour aftertaste, not very bitter. It’s quite decadent this beer!

On tap at the brewpub. Nice dark pour, almost black with reddish tints and a lot of creamy white nitro foam. Aroma is quite low key, with hints of grain, toast, fresh hops and coffee. Taste is a well built and balanced mix of burnt toast, coffee and chocolate. Palate is really creamy and satisfying.

A deep dark stout with a thick receeding dark brown head, nitro pushed. In aroma, a light caramel chocolatem butterscotch. In mouth, a lightly silky bitter chocolatem with light lactic points, nitro silk, not bad. On tap at brewpub, Dec. 27 2010.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 MartinT (6340) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 18, 2010
My Bottom Line:
This graceful Oatmeal Stout provides plenty of cereal flavors which effortlessly segue into a satisfying finish of roasted malt and leafy hop bitterness.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-Nitrogen-induced foam icing decorates the pure blackness.
-This will surely be wonderful served gravity-style from the young oak casks...
-Although regular patrons might not prefer this, I get the impression this recipe would express better with light carbonation, a bit like that of their wonderful Bitter.
-Raisin-y malt complexities appear once in a while.
-The mouthfeel is very smooth and wealthy, and the nitro doesn’t make the brew feel bloated. It simply increases drinkability in this case, while not impeding on malt flavors.
