Probably the best offering from Alcatrax so far. A "stout" for the masses. Slightly thin, not really sure where the "heavy" body is. Nice mix of malts and barley in this one. Didn’t pick up on the coffee, but it did have some licorice notes and the finish was fairly creamy. Very drinkable. Nice, solid effort, I’d have this one again.

Aug 22, 2008 Poured a black color with a small tan head. Aroma was of coffee and licorice, a bit dry. Flavor was a bit sweeter than the aroma would suggest, a bit thin, but not too bad

May 16, 2007 West coast aroma over burnt sugars. Roast, sulphury, chemical at times. Creosote and cashew finish. Medium body. Roast bitter finish. Fair.

Aug 9, 2004 This draft brew from the brewery poured a large sized head of finely sized mostly lasting light brown colored bubbles that left behind a good lacing. The body was nearly opaque with no visible carbonated and dark ruby brown in color. It had a nice coffee malt aroma and a smooth thin mouth feel with a malt bite in the finish. The flavor contained notes of malt hops mild coffee and toffee.

Aug 9, 2004 Sampler at Downtown Indy. Medium sized tan head and fine-small sized bubbles that mostly diminished. Nearly opaque body and a dark brown hue. Malty and roasted coffee aroma. Malt, coffee and some hop flavor. Smooth palate. Medium bodied beer with good lacing.
