Bottled@The 1st Vaasa CS/ES beer session (thanks JP). Pitch black with minor beige head. Aroma is ashes, coffee, caramel malts, roasted malts and some slight notes of toffee. Flavour is rather much the same, but has a clearly stronger chocolaty tone. Very pleasant.

A very dark brown, almost black beer, Devout Stout is smooth and rich with an alcoholic kick. Its flavours combine brown sugar, aniseed, and coffee. Not quite as good as their porter, this is still a very enjoyable beer from Alcazar.

Pours dark brown with a thin white head. Smells of dark chocolate, molasses, sweet brown sugar, some pepper. Tastes of roasted malt, some peppery splashes, textured malt profile. Enjoyable.

UPDATED: JAN 24, 2008 Bottle. Heavy pitch pour with Caramac-coloured suds receding to a halo. Aroma smoked and slightly vinous, with coffee, cocoa, prunes, yeast extract and a potent slug of booze. Creamy warming palate exuding smoke, more prunes, bitter chocolate, black coffee and alcohol glow. Lingeringly bitter and charred. Nice.
