Cask@Reading Beer Festival. Slightly wheaty/grainy characters, with some appley fruit. Slight acidic bitter finish. Easy drinking.

Cask at the Fox and Crown. Thick lasting off whhite foam. Litle opaque, yellow color. Strange hop aroma. Hoppy taste with some caramell and malt sweetness.

Cask at the Fox & Crown, Nottingham. Gold with a small white head. Initial metallic aroma with hops later developed sweetness. Thick, oily mouthfeel. Slightly grainy taste with some bitterness though not a lot of impact. Bit warm, to be frank, and well past its best. Disappointing in the light of favourable reviews from raters whose judgment I respect.

A Sim rate (cask at the Wenlock): Smells of feet, stilton and a bit of apple. Would possibly make a very good cheese platter. Very standard golden colour. Flavour is not great, but not terribly offensive. Tiny bit of peach and slightly bitter with a tangy finish.

Cask Conditioned at Reading BF 2006 (Sunday). Golden. Malty and fruity with an odd cheesy edge. Interesting but not one you could drink a lot of.

Cask (handpulled) at the Fox and Crown, Basford, Nottingham. A splendid ESB from the brewery tap. Rich amber body, great white head, sensibly hopped, sustained fruit through to the finish. Well worth the trip just for this.

Cask at Out of the Vaults, Leicester. Golden with a white head. Aromas are grain, citrus fruit, pear, oily hops and sulphur. Flavours are dry, sweet and buttery. Quite fruity and bitter. Pretty decent.

Cask@Out of the Vaults, Leicester. Amber beer with a frothy head. The aroma is light and strongly sulphur with a burn’t element, and the flavour is light with a hopped finish. Overall a pleasantly hopped beer.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Out Of The Vauls Leicester. A golden coloured beer with a dry aroma filled with citrus hops. The taste is very bitter with good hop character. Reminded me a bit of a stronger version of JHB. A real corker of a beer in the first sips but then becomes a bit overdry.
