Peculier Pub, NY bottle ($6): Pour is golden with a quickly dissipating head. Aroma is saison funk. Taste is a bit funky too with citrus touches. It has a little bit of hop bitterness as well. If this wasn’t advertised as such, I would not have known that this was a gluten-free beer, except for perhaps the appearance.

Big vegetal notes in this one. Pours a hazy, hazy orange, tastes a little boozy, with some orange citrus. A nice saison, but nothing stellar.

Pours cloudy orange with a quickly dissipating head. Aromas of peach, yeast, some apple, maybe a hint of lemon. Taste is sweet with a light bitter finish. Body is light. I don’t really get the bad reviews. I think his a decent, albeit reasonably simple, saison... Gluten or no gluten.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Vthophead. Pours light gold with a 1/2" of white head that recedes quickly leaving a thin ring. Light aroma featuring coriander, orange peel and very mild earthy hops. Light, citrus flavor, orange and lemon. Some peppery notes. Light bodied and easy to drink.

Gotta love Alchemist. After brewing a rock star IIPA, they follow with... a gluten-free, sorghum based brew! The label has a feminine drawing on the label, which suggests that women are the intended customers. Cloudy brown pour. Tangy aroma with some floral hops and yeast. The taste is tangy, lightly bitter, and has some smoky sorghum notes. There is something a little nasty in there too. Celia is not really that saison-like, but she is plenty flavorful for a non-gluten brew. Not great, but a good try at making something unique.

I am pretty sure this is my 1st gluten-free. poured a cloudy golden orange, with a nice sized white head that left some nice lacing. aroma sour orange, earthy, floral, citrus, yeast. flavor got pepper 1st thing, herbs, citrus, I don’t know what sorghum is suppose to taste like so the mystery flavor for me must be that . Good drinking beer

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy golden/yellow color with with an inch of foamy white head. Aroma of faint orange peel, and very herbal and medicinal. Taste is coriander, banana, belgian yeast, light orange/citrus, with more of the herbal/medicinal notes. Not bad for a sorghum beer, but definitely different.

Peach-gold pour. Fruity aroma: peach, banana, berries, citrus. Malty with astringent hoppy finish. Round and sweet.

In short: A dry pale Belgian ale with plenty of orange peels. Acceptable
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Clear golden body topped by a long-lasting small off-white head
In long: Nose is a bit citrusy, orange peels and maybe a tiny tiny of barnyard. Not much classic Saison going on in the nose and only found faint traces of barnyard because I knew it was a Saison and I wanted to find some. Taste is more of the same. The beer uses orange peels and it is what dominates the beer. Bitter orange peels upfront with other citrus fruits in the back. I find that type of bitterness a bit aggressive. Overall the beer is quite dry and that’s its saving grace. It didn’t come through as much of a Saison to me, especially compared to their Uncle Daddy Saison I had 5 minutes before which was very Saison. I suppose it is hard to get the best out of a Saison in a gluten-free beer. Decent beer, no more. Anyway, I decided that going to the excellent Alchemist for a gluten-free beer was like going to a brothel to get a hug.

Pours gold into a shaker. Caramel and sour pit fruit aromas. Sweet sorghum upfront turning to mandarin in the sour lasting finish.
