3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at the brewpub: Nice yeast & farmy aroma, nice white head, and cloudy yellow color. I think John brewed this batch a little different, the ABV was 7.5 and well masked and the flavor was a dead on Saison. I really like this beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft. Pours a golden chardonnay like body with a white ring of lacing. Light yeast and fruit ester tones. Perfume with a musty dry floral tone. Sweet honey and bubble gum notes, earth and spices, with a hint of orange. A messy saison with a medium warming rounds this out.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap at Blind Tiger. Pours a clear gold with lots of tiny fizzy bubbles. The aroma is surprisingly heavier on orange peel at first, followed by notes of yeast and bubble gum. Flavor... lots of sugary esters. Slightly tart red fruit, orange punch, and pure white sugar cane. This sort of tasted like a tart bubble gum. Finish has plenty of yeast and esters. Too sugary.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap at BT. Pours a mostly clear with a thin white head. Aroma is light spicy dupont yeastiness, some spicy earthy grassy hops, honey, toast, pepper, slight seafoam, unripe orange peel, and bubblegum phenols. Flavor is spicy, yeasty, light bready doughiness, medium sweetness in the middle, toast and honey with a waxy sugary candy thing going on, some off phenols, earth, spicy, bubblegum, hay mixed with spicy hops, and a medium sweet finish- not dry or refined. A bit messy.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pale golden yellow straw colour. Aroma is a bit wheaty and grainy. Light bubble gum ester and a touch of soft spiciness. Lightly musty with a little bit of soft spicy. Herbal and spicy character with a soft noble/floral hoppiness. Really authentic malt character which is what is usually wrong in most US interpretations of this style. Soft and very well-balanced. Quite dry on the finish with a bit of fruit and light sweet hoppiness. Straw-like maltiness, a little bit crackery as well. Warming brings out more fruitiness and a light yeasty spiciness. Aroma really improves as it warms up, bringing out more fruity/spicy complexity.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
In short: A nice (too) spicy and (too) strong Saison
How: Tap at brewpub. Fresh first batch, brand new creation
The look: Dark yellow body topped by a long-lasting off-white head
In long: Nice wild and spicy nose, not bretty but certainly farmhouse-ish wild. Taste was very good but could have been great. I really enjoyed the extra-nice true wild Saison sensation and the dryness was up there just how I like it in a Saison. Unfortunately both the spiciness and alcohol presence were too strong for my liking and turned what could have been a highly drinkable wild and dry Saison into a kind-of-wild spicy sipper. This is a case where simpler would have been better. Still this beer is very good, but it could have been excellent (to me at least) if they had not tried so hard. It’s the second Saison called Farmer’s Daughter I have in the past two months and I liked both of them… call me Farmer’s Son in Law.
