3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
16 oz. can. Kinda murky amber body. Medium white head. Smells kinda like rye, though I read the description and I know it’s not. Also grassy hops, nutty maltiness. Tastes of rye as well. Grapefruit hops. Sweet and bready malts. Aggressively bitter. Medium body and kinda creamy. Not what expected. Dynamic flavors, none of which scream northeast pale ale.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours hazy reddish with high creamy beige head. Good lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt, fruits. Taste is of roasted malt, bitterness, toasted stuff. Palate: Medium body, light-medium carbonation. Overall: Not sure at all about the malt profile here. 100% Munich? And why exactly?

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a clear dark amber with a small to medium beige head that leaves spotty lacing. Nose is quite on the roasty side and almost ashy with some caramel and pine. Taste is more caramel, roasted malt and is moderately bitter. Some toffee. What is that? Not quite a black IPA and really not up to the level of Heady... Medium body, medium carbonation. A little harsh. We’re used to wet hop beers being awkward sometimes but I never expected The Alchemist to release something like that. Subpar for them and really not that enjoyable...

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
can. pours hazy/cloudy dark copper-orange with a small creamy off-white cap offering some retention and lacing. lots of strawberries, maybe pickled, very fruity melons, some sweetness - darn munich; clean american yeast. moderate carbonation, light body - oily; semi-sweet grassy finish. entirely munich malt - seriously? awkward harvest ale.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Can, shared. Cloudy dark orange with a small off-white head leaving some lacing. Aroma is of earthy spiciness, floral hops, caramel and rotten notes. Taste is caramel forward with loads of earthy spiciness, grains and rotten notes. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Spicy finish. That’s quite bad. Ok it’s an Harvest Ale, but coming from The Alchemist it’s disappointing. Cloying.

1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20
Can shared, tried to pop it but the tab didn’t open on this rare treat. We had to puncture it with a corkscrew. Pours a shit brown color with small beige head. The smell is rotten veggies, rotten wood, ash, poop, and dumpster snack, flavor is the same crap grain and smokey malt with a touch of vomit. Not sure how someone could sell this and not feel bad about the product, Total piece of shit that harshed everyone’s buzz.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can... Pours cloudy and Longhorn-orange with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. Heavy caramel, fruitcake and marmalade intermingled by loads of fresh, bright, resiny, floral and citrusy hops. Full-bodied with adequate carbonation. The flavor is a nearly perfect balance of roasted caramel and citrusy, spicy hops. Trends just a touch bitter. Nice acrid bitterness with a kiss of singed caramel in the finish.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
In short: Nutty caramelized malts and grassy eathy bitter hops. Unusual fun beer.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Cloudy light brown body topped by a medium beige head
In long: Nose has a lot of fresh grassy hops. Taste has a very unusual malt bill for a harvest hop beer. Very nutty taste (hazelnuts) with caramel, earth and even some bananas. Then comes the very grassy and somewhat resinous hops with a long bitterness of medium intensity. This is a fun and different beer. I’m sure alchemist could make an even better Harvest Ale if they went with a more standard malt bill but I appreciate the originality nonetheless. All in all another good beer from Alchemist. I have many fond memories of this place. I still remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I drank my first pint at this brewpub.

3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
09–on tap-pours a retaining light tan head that laces and hazy copper color. Aroma is sweet citrus/pine, secondary medium malt. Taste is equal but unbalanced peat, medium malt, sweet citruspine/herbal hops with some bite. Comes across as a red crossed with a Scottish ale.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep amber pour, tending to brown. Thick and sticky tan head. The nose is kind of strange with a little bit of cocoa underlying a soft herbal spiciness. There is a fairly dank piny hop nose with some soft sweet caramelly malts. The hop freshness really comes through. It’s an unusual take on the harvest ale, but it does work. Sort of a hoppy brown, but it works.
