3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A vigorous pour from the can produces a three-finger thick, pale tan colored head that leaves some lacing on the sides of my Tripel Karmeliet tulip. The beer is a hazy, dirty amber color that shows a chunky, hazy, orange-gold tinged, pale amber hue when held up to the light. Up front is a punchy hop character with notes of lychee, ripe tangelo zest, a dank herbal note, and pine needles all playing a prominent role. The malt here, while certainly playing a subordinate role, still contributes a definite crystal malt character that is biscuit like and notes of toasted whole grain crackers that is fairly noticeable.
Sharply bitter and herbaceaous from the get go, but the finish sees the hops picking up more of the lychee and ripe fruit character. There is a definite peppery note from the hops and this mixes in well with the biting bitterness as well as with the danker herbal notes. There is even some woody hop notes here that accentuate the flavors of pine. The malt character is fairly light, as it should be, but does contribute a chewy bread / cracker note, as well as some touches of toasted pale grain character. The body here has a certain chewiness to it, there is a definite viscosity here, I wouldn’t quite say this was quaffable, though it is certainly drinkable. Some noticeable alcohol in the finish adds some spiciness and a touch of heat. There is a light sweetness to this brew that is accentuated by the fruity hop notes; the latter contribute notes of lychee, tangelo zest, kumquat, and Curacao Orange zest.
Definitely a hop lovers beer. This is quite enjoyable, but somehow isn’t quite what I prefer in a Double IPA; there is a certain muddiness to the flavor, which likely corresponds to the murkiness that this has visually and somehow the hop character isn’t quite as bright as I would prefer.

Bottle at home. Stockholm, Sweden. American Imp Ipa at its best. Along with
Pliny the elder( havent tried the younger yet) and Dreadnaught. Top of the line.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Big thanks to Celtic001 for a couple of these sent my way. I was so excited for the arrival of these, that once they were chilled to perfection, they disappeared quickly. Poured into a pint glass. Pours a murky dark orange/gold with a thick lustrous off-white head on top.
Slick yet heavy feel. Lightly oily on the back end. Big bitter pop of juicy hops. Full of lush flavor of bitter fruits, semi-sweet syrup on finish. White peppery "burn" in the midst, but this is bitter all out. Surprisingly an easy finish with such a boisterous profile. Great beer. Not my top DIPA, but a good one for sure that I wouldn’t turn down any day of the year.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
OMG!!! This was amazing. This beer was consumed direct from the can, as per the can’s instructions. The aroma burst forth as soon as the can was popped: pine, citrus, resin, like a whole hop cone thrown in there. The appearance is a gold/amber, white head. The flavor is a blast of hops, citrus, pine and resin. Incredible. The finish is the same. beautiful. Medium in body, slightly thick even. Obviously a hophead’s beer, but so unbelievably well-crafted. Awesome.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Can direct from Alchemist Cannery. Pours a cloudy yellow with an off white head. Decent retention. Massive hoppy aroma of citrus, grapefruit, peach and some light malt and caramel. Flavor is a beautiful blend of fruity hops (mostly grapefruit and orange) caramel malt and medium bitterness. Nice toasted cracker malts as the backbone.
Full body, soft carbonation. The finish is a long pine, oily bitterness. Light resin notes toward the backend as well. Amazing drinking considering the bitterness. This is just as good as Dreadnaught or Hopslam. I have to agree with the masses on this one. Superbly made.

Opaque dark golden with a white head leaving lacing.
Fresh and hoppy aroma with apricot and peach.
Taste: tropical fruits, nectar, honey, grapefruit, caramel, medium bitter, pine needles in the finish.
Very nice and drinkable.
Edit: after having fresher cans I just have to raise the score from 4.2. This is great stuff!

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pint can (thanks Pawola22 for this treat!). Wow. That about sums this one up. I’m blown away from the start. Tropical fruits galore here in the subtle, yet eye-opening aroma, with the acidity of the tropical/mango/passion fruits adding a nice degree of complexity. The fresh fruity hops, oranges, bananas are balanced out very well with a milder grain profile of rice and mixed light cereals. It poured with a light yet thick white bubbly layer of starch white head, a hazy through vibrant medium-heavy appearing, golden-orange body. The palate is probably 6/5 if that were possible. An incredible drinking experience with a deep and powerful palate, yet with a smooth, tart, acidic, and properly bitter balance. The notes in the aroma and flavor go hand in hand, though bolder in the flavor, and more delicately balanced in the aroma. Also, probably a bit more grass and herbal hop qualities, as well as more cotton candy and caramel sweetness in the flavor. This lingers so wonderfully with bitter, tangy mixed tropical fruits. Oh my. So much to ponder here. I didn’t want it to end. Nearly perfection.
