Pure hoppy goodness. About as good as beer can get. Take their word for it and drink it out of a can. Worth visiting Vermont for.

16 oz. can. Poured hazy orange with tons of swirling hop particles despite a slow pour. Nose is of FRESH cut citrus. Flavor also of FRESH cut citrus, orange, tangerine, grapefruit all present. Finished bitter, but surprisingly smooth and drinkable despite the claim of 120+ IBUs. No alcohol noticeable. Medium bodied. Phenomenal stuff.

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2013 Amazing. So much aroma from all the beautiful array of hops in this beast of an IPA. For being high in alcohol content, it was barely detectable, as it went down easy, all 120 IBUís of it. *I just decided to change the appearance from a 4 to a 5, because this is exactly how a double IPA should look and this beer is perfect.

Can multiple times. Pours a slightly hazy golden amber with a medium plus sized white head. The aroma explodes with tropical fruits, mango, citrus, earthy, and dank hops. If there are malts, they remain well hidden. The flavor does have some toasted bread that is dominated b the tropical fruits, citrus, earthy and resiny hops. Good bitterness and mouth feel. Even with all of the fruitiness, the finish is on the dry side. This is a treat from start to finish.

I popped the top and gave it a good sniff, and even though I couldnít quite put my finger on the aroma, it was very nice. I did the "swoosh and spit" taste test and it was very smooth and not what I expected from a beer with an IBU rating of 120. It had an awesome taste that was not overwhelming at all, smooth & robust with a small bite at the end. With an ABV of 8%, it accented the beer extremely well. The color pours of creamy honey and overall, this beer was quite amazing. Itís no wonder people will travel far distances for this brew.

Heady Topper pours a hazy orange color. Barely any head at all is poured. Minimal lacing. While this beer doesnít look that exciting the nose on this beer is. You want a barrage of hops? Look no further and I really mean it here. Full on wall of pine with a mixture of grapefruit, mango, citrus which is hard to explain. Just straight up hoppy while someone being a tad bit balanced with the smallest amount of grainy malt. See that picture on the can of the hops exploding out of the guys head as he drinks this beer. Yeah thatís basically how I felt. Possibly out of every beer Iíve ever had in my life, this might be the one that they somehow pulled out every bit of juice you can probably get from a hop, I think you get what I mean. Itís just pure hop juice. But not in a bad bitter way. Yes it has a bit of bitterness to it, but itís wrangled in. In the taste more of the grapefruit comes through. Pine comes in next with the other fruits following. Just pure lovely hop juice. But with all this talk of hops, itís hard to believe me that this beer still remains kind of balanced somehow and totally 100% fantastic and drinkable. Small bit of a malt backbone is present. Just enough. A small amount of alcohol is there too. Mouthfeel is medium bodied. Slightly carbonated. Medium amount of bitterness. Not over the top.

"Purchased on 1-6-11 from The Alchemist Cannery in Waterbury, VT Brewed on 1-3-11 Opened on 1-6 just hours after purchasing. Served at 50 degrees. I did pour a bit into a snifter just to get the appearance and aroma but not much. A - Light golden color. Iíd think it was a Budweiser just by the look of things. The pour was more heavy and syrupy than a bud though. No head was produced but this was a very easy and small pour just to get a glance at appearances. S - Phenomenally sweet scent arose from the snifter before I even got into the glass with my nose. Smells exactly as a Double IPA should smell. Iím getting a hint of glue and mollasses in the smell. T - Itís clearly a double IPA but itís also clear this is like no other IPA Iíve ever had. The taste difference between snifter and can is terrific and beautiful. Sweeter than most DIPAs and not very bitter at all. These guys produced a very tasty beer!!! M - Very heavy body on the tongue and on my cheeks. A slight tingle as I swallow and super syrupy after taste almost like apple or cherry cough syrup. The mouth feel is solid and very well balanced with the taste. O - $12 for 4 is a great price but Iím sure that price will start getting higher very soon. Itís a great beer. Worth of 100 on Beer Advocate? I donít think so. Iím not HUGE on IPAs and this may be the best IPA Iíve ever had but World Class? Meh. I do sort of regret buying 16 of these things. Oh well. Beer is beer."

(Can) Pours a golden amber body with a medium white head. Aroma of dank, earth, herbs, pineapple, and citrus. Flavor of herbs, grass, orange, and pineapple with a dry, bitter finish.
