Pours a hazy burnt umber with a light creamy head. Deep funky hops with piney citrus notes. Aroma is in your face and a sign of the bold flavor to come. Drinks strong and smooth with a mellow maltiness laying under the powerful hops. A mildly bitter finish lingers for a moment but is rounded out well. Overall an outstanding IPA and it's easy to see why it's sought after. That said, the hype may be overplayed just a bit. Slightly reminiscent of Six Point's Hi-Res which is high up on my list. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Found a few cans at a store in upstate NY after striking out during an earlier trip to Vermont. Pine, grapefruit, citrus, dark fruit, spice, and some underlying bread and caramel in the aroma. Bitter citrus flavor, with lots of orange, lemon, and grapefruit. Bittersweet, spicy, crisp finish. Certainly really good, but maybe a touch overrated. I’ve had other big IPAs that were about as good, and a lot less trouble to find.

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2014 In trade from bibsbrewing on BA. Thank you! Pours gorgeous glowing rich hazy bright orange. Smell is strong citrus orange grapefruit. Taste is citrusy, orange bitterness. Like candied orange peel. Kind of sweet in the finish. Too syrupy of a body and normal carbonation. Good but doesn’t differentiate itself from the field of endless double ipas for me too much really. Kind of reminds me of what I remember Maharaja tasting like. Not my favorite style lately, but glad to have tried it.

Nice to have finally found the notes on this. I had two cans. One was poured into a snifter and the other was drank out of the can. The appearance in the snifter was a hazy burnt orange color with a ton of floaties surrounding the body. The head was about a finger’s worth of white foaminess. There was some light lacing sticking nicely to the sides of the glass. The smell out of the can and glass was basically the same as it was pure citrus to piney hops that ended up assaulting my nose in a nice bitter/dank sort of way. The taste between the can and the glass was the same as it was pure bittersweetness from the hops. Even as this one warms, the sweetness comes from the hops and not the malts. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it. The carbonation was sharp due to the style and was much expected. Overall, I can see why so many people like this. If I lived within the brewery’s distro I’m sure I’d be stalking this brew at least on a weekly basis. However, I do have to say this and that’s the fact that this isn’t exactly the most balanced in the nose. Also, what’s with the "only drinking it from the can?" So what if there’s floaties - who cares. I didn’t know the floaties police would be after John Kimmich for allowing floaties in his beer.

By far the best IPA I have ever had. Hints of citrus and pine with lots of funk. If you find it drink it young and fresh. Wish it made it to the west coast.

Pour from a can (only enough to get an aroma and color) was a hazy gold with a white head. Aroma is floral with a nice citrus. Taste is a little grapefruit with a hint of pine. Goes down smooth and doesnt have much of an after bite.

Light orange, golden hazy pour. Fluffy white head, various size bubbles. Juicy fruity hop aroma. Grapefruit, peach, mango, passion fruit. Flavor is bright, complex and dense. All kinds of hop character. Mostly peach and papaya, but really a huge host of fruits. Malt is very light and really tries it's best to stay out of the way. Bitter finish shows up suddenly, attacks the sweetness and then subsides. It leaves some tingling on the tongue and gums. A touch of heat from the alcohol shows up and somehow enhances the intensity of the fruit. When I casually sip a pint of this, I end up thinking it's just very good but not exceptional. When you sit down and deconstruct it to rate, you discover just how well everything fits together. It really is exceptional and exemplifies everything the style should ambition to be. The best part is the intensity of flavor that comes on the back of a big malt base and alcohol at 8%, but without becoming the sticky sweet mess that too many other beers that try to pull this off usually become. Pretty glorious stuff.

Very nice canned IPA widely available here in VT but apparently a precious commodity elsewhere. Good forward hop pine resin flavors but they stay a bit heavy on the tongue. And at 8.3% hard to quaff more than 1-2 in a session. A bit cloying & syrupy.

Not the best ipa at all as many claim, but still amazing. Super resiny and sticky with hop bittrrness. A lot like six point resin, but better.
