Strong citrus aroma. Golden in color with light head. Slight malt flavor but overly hoppy with strong citrus and slight piney flavors especially present at finish

Finally, the illusive, the illustrious, the.... illuminating, Heady Topper! The beer that needs no introduction! The beer weíve all been waiting for. As far as beers go itís an IPAís world, and as far as ipas go this is one of the greats! But... Maybe it was itís reputation that kind of made me expect a little more out of this beer. I mean donít get me wrong this is a reasonably balanced, solid, intense ipa. I think I just set my sights a little higher than anything could ever be and then made myself disappointed...

Can split with diarmaidBHK - pours golden orange with a white head, nice lacing. Great piney aroma but not a lot of bitterness. Finally! An IPA that I like!

Can from four seasons liquor and wine. Pours golden with a white head. Massive, dank citrus hops on the nose. Big, huge hop, notes on the tongue with a lot of bitterness on the finish. For such a big beer itís pretty well balanced considering the style.

Stuff is like eating a handful of hops with little bitterness. Get back to this review tomorrow when I have another.

Finally managed to get my hands on one of these and it was well worth the wait. Took a few sips from the can before pouring. Lovely dank, hoppy aroma with a slight tropical sweetness. Itís an explosion of flavour with piney bitter hops, mango, slight pineapple and slight citrus fruits. A lovely bitter and hoppy aftertaste works so well with the sweet fruitiness. So well balanced and more than lived up to expectations. Not too bitter, not too sweet and one of, if not the best DIPAs Iíve tried. No idea when this was canned but it tastes very fresh. Outstanding.

Originally reviewed on 8/3/2011. On tap at the Alchemist in Waterbury, VT. $4 for a 12 oz. pour. Canít beat that. Hazy orange body with a delicious white head. The beer sticks and leaves lacing all down the side of the glass. Waves of hop aromas. Unbelievably delicious citrus and floral hops. It has the strongest citrus hop aroma Iíve ever smelled. Great hop flavor up front that just lasts and lasts. Somewhere in the distance is a slight sweetness to balance it out. There is hardly any bitterness. Slick and easy to drink. A gulpable IPA. I put back 3 of these easily. The best IPA I have had and a great endnote for my east coast beer trek. Worth the drive and something I hope to get once it is canned!
