A - drank from the can, but poured a bit. Hazy straw golden amber with high fluffy. S - piney resiny up front. Nice notes of tropical fruits, candied lemon, grapefruit, nice malt notes underneath. M - nice full bodied full palate. Nicely rounded. Bitter but not overwhelming. Nice malty ending, not too sweet. T - centennial hops. Candied citrus, lemon and overripe cuties and light tropical fruits up front. Centennial hops. Nice citrus and tropical fruit. Blends to a full strong malt back bone. Hints of mint, honey. Gets sweeter as it warms up. O - fantastic well balanced, though malt heavy as it warms. 8

March 21, 2012 with blankboy and garthicus. 16oz can c/o garthicus. Cloudy orange-gold with some sludge with a smallish frothy head. [various incoherent sounds of pleasure relating to hoppy aroma here]. Taste - catty resin, tons of pineapple/mango fruit, some alcohol - really good stuff, aroma was better, tastes sweeter than it smells. Solid body and carbonation astringent and clingingly bitter, with emerging near-booziness as it warms - long finish, leaves a fruity/hemp/catty finish; didnít mind the chunks, either!

Kobal (64) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - OCT 10, 2012
UPDATED: OCT 14, 2012 I had this in a pint can and, other than a small pour into a glass to discern color and clarity, followed the recommendations to drink from the can. Poured a very hazy golden color with decent head and a grassy hop nose. Strong, spicy hop palate with grapefruit and a touch of pine. Lighter bodied than many double or imperial IPAs. An easy drinker (unfortunately, as itís 8% abv), as the can text suggests, but nothing unusual for an American style IPA.

UPDATED: OCT 2, 2013 Had some room temperature samples of this stuff @ Borefts 2012. Split a 500 ml. with two others at the train station before heading heading of to Kwintessens - still nicely cooled. Taste is quite bitter, bitter white grapes, lighter pineapple, kiwi, rather bitter pine raisin in the back, light honey, grapefruit, citrus, tangerine, light alcohol in the finish coming through which is a bit odd. Really dries out the mouth, well-carbonated. I like my DIPA a bit fruitier with a sweeter edge but this is very fine stuff, probably to bitter for me to ever actually drink a lot of this. This is a fine beer. /// Tried again, small sample, more fruity, mellower than I remember, more white grape. No idea of the age of the sample. It is a good beer but still not getting why people go so crazy for it.

Poured from a 16 oz. can and served in a DFH signature glass. Big thanks to Mike (Gushue3) for sending me a few of them! A: Pours a dark amber color with a little light brown in the body and some orange hues around the edges. Has a bunch of floaties as well. A nice off-white head forms on the pour and recedes to a nice film ring. Leaves a nice sticky lace down the glass. S: Grapefruits and resin with a light flower back note. Nice caramel malts and some solid breadiness as well. T: The taste is more of the same. Nice flowery notes pop up, some candied sugar and some biscuit malt with a little toffee as well. Solid grapefruit with a little citrus pop to round it all out. There is some solid bitterness on the finish with a hint of pine needle. M: Nicely carbonated with a nice medium to light body. Leaves a nice floral and fruit taste across the palate. Very drinkable. O: Awesome beer. Tons of flavor and it really lingers in your mouth for a while. Glad I got some more of these guys! On tap at the Hill Farmstead Harvest Festival 2012 VIP Event, Vermont. I liked it. I really liked it. Fairly earthy, damn resinous. Stood up well to the HF DIPAs that were also on offer. (4.2)

Can at Nikki and Andreís wedding, CT. Again, epic. Shared some cans with friends. Liked it better from the can than on draft. (4.4)

Cans shared at the Craft Beer Co., London, many thanks to Mike. This stuff is totally rad. Out of academic interest I poured a small amount into my glass to find that this liquid is cloudy, glowing gold with a small, white foam head. Otherwise, slammed it straight to my face. Heady as shit, big and resinous, though not too big, or abrasively bitter. Huge pine character, ridiculously well balanced. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Big sticky finish, moderate earth. Just outrageous stuff. (4.6)

UPDATED: OCT 5, 2012 Draught @ Prohibition Pig. Brought case of cans home to PA. Slugging from the can is the way to do it but i poured 1 in glass for descriptive purpose. 16 oz can- pours murky light orange w/ medium white head. Floaties abound. Decent retention, ok lacing. Aroma is as good as it gets for a hoppy beer. Super aromatic, fresh hops, grapefruit, tangerine, pine resin, honey, stonefruit. Taste follows suit. Medium body. Deliciously refreshing. Itís like a hop soda. Finish is grapefruity, piney, & slightly bitter.

UPDATED: JUN 28, 2013 16oz can. Looks like a nice color. Aroma strong of citrusy and grapefruit like hops plus a good amount of caramel malts. Flavor the same, with a lot of hops but they are smoother and without the bite a lot of other beers of this style. Thicker texture. A really good beer. EDIT: This beer is great.
