Can pour cloudy orange wit lots of sediment and floaters. Nose pine, floral and resin. Taste initial grapefruit bite, pine ,resin hops all balanced by a sweet backbone and bitter finish. Very good.

Can shared generously by Max at tasting. Pours hazy apricot-hued yellow with thick foamy head. Aroma is outrageous; this is the best smelling IPA Iíve ever encountered. Lovely aroma of grapefruit with notes of lemon and lime zest and tropical fruits. Just heavenly. Taste is lots of hoppy citrus pith, grapefruit juice and light pine. Great balanced. Terrific finish. Definitely lives up to the hype.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Hazy, orange yellow color. One finger head that falls to a thick collar leaving a solid ring of soapy lacing. Vibrant carbonation.
Citrus and citrus nose. Tangerine, grapefruit, grapefruit, lemon, lime, mango. Holy crap.
Tropical fruit bowl taste. Touches of malt backbone. Hops sing in harmony with this. High acid but not overly bitter. Complex mother.
Long lasting candied citrus feel. Perfect carbonation. Oily, dry and just touches of sweet. Brilliant, just brilliant

Pours hazy yellow into glass. Clearly unfiltered and loving it. Nice hop nose - citrusy grapefruit tangerine and lemon. Taste citrus and resiness but very balanced and easy to drink. Lovely beer

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a hazed yellow.... nice lacing and retention.
Wow... the nose is pretty damn good... citrus zest... grapefruit... tangerine... maybe some lemon.... balanced just slightly by a light pale malt presence.... smells very fresh and very yummy.
Big bitterness up front quickly moves to a palate blast of citrus hops that have a touch of pine in there.... even some tropical fruitiness is accentuated by a slight pale maltiness... very good.
Body and carbonation are spot-on for the style.
Pretty damn good.... If I could get this regularly, it would be a fridge staple.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma is strong american hops, citrus and dank. Taste is strongly bitter up front, more American hop flavor and some caramel sweetness. Finish is pretty bitter.

I find that the best IPAs are the ones that impart all the goodness that is IPA while still being smoothly drinkable. And that's what you get here. Cloudy pour (still haven't figured out how that affects flavor in an IPA, but there you go), with strong pine and citrus notes. And the lingering backend is all IPA bitter -- hence the high IBU. But the middle is where this beer shows its beauty. Hoppy flavors of pine, some resin, and some citrus come through on a good, unsweet malt base. This is pure hops, without gimmicks. Seems easy enough but harder to find than you might expect. This beer is thusly recommended!!

UPDATED: OCT 17, 2013 Can, shared with friend and wife, poured into glass because Iím a rule breaker. Big citrus aroma - grapefruit and orange, packs huge citrus punch. Can smells basically like fresh hops. Pours hazy yellow/gold. Taste big citrus deliciousness. Well balanced, with some sweetness to go with the citrus. Even though it packs a hoppy punch the bitterness is surprisingly well-integrated and not even remotely harsh. Medium body, average carbonation, slick texture, long finish. Overall: initial assessment was "this is damned tasty, but no need to trade my firstborn for it - good double ipas abound out here." then we followed it with the freshest batch of stone enjoy by 7/4/13, which hit the shelves today, and which was practically a revelation for me regarding fresh, great ipas when I had it last time around. Directly following on the heels of heady topper really drives home that heady topper is in another league. Yeah, different flavor profiles and all, but I didnít expect anything could make stoneís offering taste bland and tame by comparison. Actually a good combo for me - wanting to keep open mind, rejecting the hype, then getting a second look that showed me a glimpse of where itís coming from. Damn fine brew.

Citrusy a tad sweet and not very bitter. Honestly never had an IPA like it, in a good way! Very easy to drink. One of my favorites in the world!

Can courtesy of jercraigs & mabel. Yeah, I drank a few mouthfuls from the can as suggested, but then I poured the rest into a glass - sorry, my snobbery got the best of me. Lovely hazy-orange with a big white head and some sparkling floaties. Aroma is ridiculous, like smelling a handful of fresh hops - pungently floral and fruity, with notes of pine, peach, orange peel and heady herbs. Flavour is obviously heavy on the hops - OK, thatís a bit of an understatement - bit itís not aggressively bitter or astringent like many hop-heavy beers. The hop character is rounder and more complex - thereís the expected citrus and pine, some papaya and passionfruit, a bit of orange blossom honey, some zippy spiciness, and a long, palate-coating finish of grapefruit peel and hop resin. I was skeptical that this would live up to the hype, but goddamn, it surely did!
