4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Smells of grapefruit and pine. Very aromatic. Drank most from can as per directions, but a 5 oz pour into a snifter revealed a hazy beer without much in the looks department. I was, at first, convinced the drink from can direction was a ploy to keep people from looking at the beer, but further taste comparison made me feel like the can was really quite superior. Taste-wise, the beer was a bit unbalanced in the direction of bitterness over maltiness, but a complete lack of lingering bitterness on the palate made me appreciate the overly hoppy character, and this is the only beer I’ve yet to see do that right. Full marks, except for appearance, which was abysmal.

Bonused by nate321 in a recent trade (read: received it today), thanks a lot man!! This isn’t my first time with Heady but it is my first time rating it, let’s dissect this. Pours clear golden with only the slightest haze and almost no head. Smell is heavenly, pine and grapefuits loaded. It does smell even more of pine when sniffing from the can, marvelous! Taste is medium bitter with a medium sweetness coming from the supportive malt backbone. Flavors remind again of pine mostly, covering a grapefruity canva. Overall a marvelous double IPA, one that I should someday go drink straight from the source!

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
I’d walk across the blazing Sahara desert for a good IPA. This IPA strikes a wonderful balance...not too sweet, not too dry, well carbonated. The one aspect of balance that stands out is the balance between nose and palate. This beer is magnificently hopped with a perfect balance between wet and dry, with aromatic hints of pine and grapefruit. As much as I used to taunt my wine loving friends (catcalls of "Tannic, but fruity, with essence of oak" were my typical sophomoric jeer...), I grudgingly admire their descriptive nomenclature. Now, I simply have to convert them to beer.

From the brewery. Pours a bright effervescent gold with lots of white head. Perfect spruce hop sting that is short and sweet and piney and everything that is good in an iipa. Wonderful grapefruit in the aroma just adds to the enjoyment. This is fantastic.

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
I’m ready for a Heady! Fresh can. In the can, smell is big pine. Poured into a small taster also getting some fruity smell. Pours murky light tangerine with no head or lacing. Aromas are pine, some light peach or apricot, maybe some biscuit. Tastes are light sweet and heavy bitter. Body is medium, bitterness almost makes it feel sticky. Bitterness and flavours last a long time. This is crazy drinkable.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Chilled 16 oz. can, big thanks for Josh. Rating was blind against two other IPAs. Pours deep golden/light amber with small white head. Medium body, low carbonation, and nice hop aroma. Taste is heavy grapefruit, pine, spicy hops, and bitter finish. Lots of flavor, but the grapefruit was too heavy and not the lighter fruitier I prefer and I am not a fan of the pine. I expected more from the highly rated Heady-Topper.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a murky, pale, wheat golden color with a cottony, stubborn white head. Flecks of barley and vegetable matter float all around the beer. Juicy grapefruit with some pine on the nose. Once the beer settles, sweeter fruit breaks through. Grapefruit up front then grass and pine emerge. But, the flavor suddenly falls of a cliff for an abrupt finish. Alcohol and unami get picked up right away and pervade throughout. The mouthfeel is a little thin for the style. It dries a little toward the finish. Pretty big disappointment. Pliny, Abrasive, Sucks, all way superior in my opinion.

16oz. can. Nice hop on the nose, hop punch on the tongue. Citrus. Bit thin on the tongue for a double IPA, but overall delightful.
