4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Huge thanks to pushkinwow for this one. I drank the first half as recommended, straight from the can... while having the first BBQ of the year might I add. Huge aroma when you stick your nose in the can.Lots of citrus, lots of pine. Tastes of quite a bit of pineapple, grapefruit. Tons of resin. Actually really bitter compared to a lot of DIPA. When I poured the 2nd half into a glass, itís a golden honey colour with floating flakes throughout. Wish I could get more.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Poured from a 16 ounce can into a Spiegelau tulip - no, I didnít follow the rules and drink it out of the can. No freshness date printed on the can.
Appearance: Pours a hazy dark honey blond with orange highlights and a 3 finger fluffy eggshell white head which dissipates very slowly leaving a 1/2 finger puddle of foam gently resting on top. Decent lacing.
Smell: The nose is huge. I got a blast of hops as I poured it from the can into the glass. Huge citrus aroma with resinous pine, floral sweetness, pineapple, a touch of honey and just a bit of bready malt in the background .
Taste: Sweet citrus, pine and grapefruit dominate throughout. The flavors arenít overly complex, but itís incredibly well-balanced. The aftertaste is bitter, but not overly so. There are hints of sweet orange in the aftertaste as well. This beer just does what it intends to do: give waves and waves of hoppy goodness on your palate.
Mouthfeel: Medium-to-full-bodied with just the right amount of carbonation.
Drinkability: Insanely high drinkability. I wish they still counted that toward the score here on BA. Goes down so smooth, I canít believe itís 8% ABV.
Overall: Amazing beer overall. There is a reason this is considered amongst the worldís best beers. Itís phenomenal. Honestly, I donít think thereís one thing I would change about this beer. This is a beer to seek out. If you ever get the chance, you must try it. Itís world class.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Overall a very nice DIPA. Iím. It sure what all the fuss is about. I have had other DIPAs that I prefer. It doesnít look that great in the glass. I drank half from can first.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Heady pushes the envelope of hop insanity straight to the breaking point then adds 50% more hops. Hop flavor and aroma are overwhelming but bitterness doesnít even begin to keep pace. As DIPA goes, this is very accessible in terms of bitterness. Expression is of citrus and piney resin.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a cloudy, golden color, fantastic citrus aroma. Pleasant bitterness but overall smooth and drinkable. I could put back a bunch of these. Well-balanced flavor - a little piney sweetness - with a nice bitter kick at the end. Great beer.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
big thanks to gunnarolis for this. 2 week old can. Beautiful yellow color with a nice firm head. Big lacing. Resiny aroma, some fruits, faint citrus and grapefruits. Rich on the tongue, medium bodied. Fantastic drinkabiliy. Extremely fun to try but hype is maybe doing to much for this beer. Incredibly good session beer.

This was a great tasting beer. I feel it has a very piney taste/smell. It is to bad it is not shipped farther.

la canette fait un peu peur mais il ne faut pas síy fier, superbe fruitť, les 120IBU ne se sentent pas, longueur ťnorme, pas trop sŤche ni rťsineuse. Une des meilleurs IPA.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Can. Cloudy golden body with a frothy, off-white head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of orange, citrus, grapefruit, pine, toasted grain. Hint of caramel. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately to heavily bitter. Medium to full body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. Strong bitter finish washes away the orange juice/grapefruit tastes, but not immediately. Some alcohol pepperiness and some light resin and pine. Very nice.

Hoppy aroma faded just a little during the week since canning. Still amazing strong citrusy aroma.

4.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Poured from the can into a tulip glass. This can is from the brewery, fresh in mid-September....
First whiff is hops and then the citrus presence, namely grapefruit, pine and some other hints. So nice on the nose but it doesnít give away anything about whatís coming in the tasting....
Poured a hazy rich gold/orange with over 1 finger of off white head. This faded to nice lacing on the glass. Light carbonation noted.
Remembering that this has been sitting in the fridge since mid-September I figured there would be some difference between this and the one I had at the brewery. I wasnít too far off. The hop profile has softened slightly but the first notes are the hops, then the citrus, other fruit hints and pine. The beer is still so balanced there wasnít one flavor that stood out above the others. Certainly the malts havenít taken over and dumbed down the flavor profile, itís just a bit mellower than when fresh.
Medium body for me with a clean, fresh taste and a dry, hop finish. Smooth all the way through. Lower carbonation than what I remember but I donít mind a bit.
Overall this beer lives up to its name. As I compare it to other DIPA, this one is still at the top of my list, even one thatís a little older and less-fresh than right out of the brewery. Awesome job Alchemist and hopefully Iíll come by some more of this down the road.
