5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Have had from can, and on tap at Alchemist before it was destroyed by Irene. Aroma- Intense piney, floral the instant you open the can, and it continues throughout the drinking. Appearance- typically drink from a can, but when poured, it is a rich, hazy gold. Taste- A full bodied hoppy bitterness tempered by slight citrusy sweetness which allows the beer to have a smoothness one would think impossible from such a high IBU brew. Palate- a medium bodied brew with lively carbonation. As said, is quite smooth, but finishes bitter, with the hops back to the forefront. Overall- A fantastic Double IPA that is surprisingly easy to drink, but does not sacrifice an ounce of flavor for that.

Can in blind tasting. Cloudy orange, with one finger fine bubbled head. Lots of mango, white pepper, lemon, lime, green peppers. Soft carbonation, very smooth on the pallet. Medium pine and grapefruit bitterness. Moderate biscuit sweetness.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a hazy bronze color without much foam.Tropical fruit and floral aromas, huge tropical fruit flavors. Sweetness from yeast and malt balances out the hop bitterness - would never have guessed it was anywhere near 120 IBUs. Moderate carbonation. Excellent overall - perhaps not the best beer in the world, but deserves its place in the conversation. If you can’t get a hold of it, it reminds me of Belgian-style IPAs, such as Raging Bitch from Snake Dog

Ça fait quelque fois que je bois de la Heady et je considère que mes premières critiques n’étaient pas nécessairement assez justes... Alors je me reprends.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Aromas of orange, tangerine, orange zest, floral hops, tropical fruits, mango, subtle pineapple, caramel, biscuit malt, grains, and some pines. Appears a bright orange with a beautiful foam head. Taste is pleasantly bitter upfront followed by fresh orange juice, tangerine, dry citrus, pineapple juice, mango, herb-y, grassy, hay, lemongrass, caramel cream, crackers, biscuit malt and more orange peel. Finishes extremely dry with resinous hop oils. Overall, definitely worth the hype. A+ beer.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured against the can’s wishes into a tulip. Cloudy grapefruit in color. It’s like a sunset, with many varying shades of orange. One finger of fuzzy off-white head becomes a moderately-sized ring that leaves some spatters of lace. Holy jeebus. This is one of the dankest, grassiest, most resinous noses I’ve encountered. It’s not bright; it’s absolutely FUNKY with hops. Behind the blend of liquified weed and grass blades, I get saltine crackers, a touch of burnt sugar and orange cream. The crackers crumble under the weight of the hops, and I love it. The resinous character can be read in the flavor, but a little bit is lost in the translation. The dank funk is still there, but the bitterness behind them is huge. Sugar-dusted orange slices and grass mix with sticky alcohol, a little caramel, and perhaps even some mango. It gets better and better as it warms and as the malt sweetness improves. By the bottom of the glass, it’s nearly perfect. Medium in body with nice creaminess. Carbonation is moderately high and pinching, breaking the beer into just a touch of fizz. Velvety. Though the alcohol’s a little more noticeable than I’d like, the bitterness and malt strike a nice balance. The hype...is well-deserved. Heady Topper’s one of the dankest, funkiest IPAs I’ve ever put in my mouth. And it comes in a can?! I’m in love.

This is an almost perfect ipa and from the east coast!! The body is just enough with a great amount of aroma and flavor. This is my favorite type of ipa style. Love that people are bringing it back to nj so often now

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
Resin, citrus, floral, grassy. First sip said it all. Strong, sharp aroma followed by a surprisingly smooth flavor and finish. Definitely puts the taste buds into overload for a bit. Find it! Drink it!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Tasted from can and poured into taster glass. Hazy orangish gold with white head. Aroma is grass, earthy notes, pine, floral. Very well balanced and clean bitter taste. Medium sweetness of caramel and earthy flavors with floral and pine notes. Excellent tasting. Lives up to the hype. One of the best IPAs I've had.

At a friends house talking about Pliny the Younger and some of the other rarities of the world while drinking wine and he says he has a couple of 4-packs of HeadyTopper in his fridge -in San Francisco mind you.
So of course I have to try some.
And it is delicious. Worth the hype!
Smooth for 8%. Not too overpowering wiht the hops. Tastes/feels wet, not in a no sh*t Sherlock, it’s liquid kind of way, but just wet. Don’t know how else to describe it. Fresh, maybe.
Loved it. Happy to have crossed it off my bucket list.
I’ll have to make his house a more regular stop after he visits home.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Had at an event at Monk’s in Philadelphia. A crowded bar filled with beerheads, awaiting the 6 O’clock hour so these shinny tin cans could be served (because you would never want to pour this out, it strictly says "drink from the can" all around the rim). It is important to note that my love of the can is why I gave it a 5 in appearance. The aroma and flavor were exactly what I expected, fresh hops the hit you from front to back. It tingled the tongue and left a wonderful floral hop flavor to enjoy well after the beer had been swallowed. Great beer, worthy of its reputation.
