Had a few in the summer and fall 2012, in can. The best double IPA I have ever tasted so far. Boy this is just a perfectly balance dIPA, Full of scents, great citrus and at 120IBU, suprisingly great hoppy finish. This beer is THE balance! Need to do a trip to the USA soooooooooooooon, and just to get packs of Heady Topper, it’s that good!

I felt the need to disobey the can’s instructions: "drink from the can!" in order to give it a proper review. It poured a cloudy gold with a finger width head. The aroma was mostly floral hops with some citrus and some grassy hops. It had a strong citrus flavor with some subtle hoppiness. As blasphemous as it sounds, I don’t think this beer meets the hype.......

Heady Topper is an superb Imperial IPA with a hazy light golden and a soft white head. Nose is a very pleasant citrus. Initial taste is has a wonderful bitterness with the grapefruit taste you would expect. Fades to a spicy afterglow. Carbonation is just right, Finishes clean, with a trace of mint and an almost key lime taste. This is a great IPA that everyone should try at least once.

16oz can purchased at the Alchemist Brewery in Stowe, VT. Pours dark burnt orange. Delicious mouthfeel, citrus notes and very bitter but in a good way. Lasting bitterness and flavor all the way down. One of the top DIPAs for a reason.

2016/09/12 - I have been looking forward to trying this beer for a few years now, so here goes...Pours a slightly hazy pale amber colour with a thick, soapy white head that lingers and leaves moderate, patchy lacing. Aroma hits you in the face the second that the can is cracked. Amazing aroma. Tons of fruit (grapefruit, orange, lemon curd, pineapple, mango), heavy floral and light vegetal notes, bread, caramel and pine. Taste is lots of citrus and tropical fruits, vegetal notes, light caramel, bread, mild pine and a hint of alcohol as it warms. Mouthfeel is medium and smooth with creamy carbonation and a dry, moderately bitter and slightly warming finish. This beer is worth the hype; delicious, complex and unique enough to stand out. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2016 16oz can. Pours a hazy orange gold with a medium white head. Aroma is floral, fruit, earthy, and lightly malty. Taste is grapefruit, peach, light pine, and hints of bread with a maltiness in the finish. Moderately bitter. Medium body. Soft carbonation. Full, creamy mouthfeel.

Notas citricas, frutales y tropicales muy intensas. Corona de espuma abundante de buena retencion. Cuerpo medio, color naranja, ligeramente turbia.

Pounder from a friend. Thanks Major Tom! Oak, pineapple, overripe grapefruit nose. Cloudy amber, medium head, good retention, some lacing. Grapefruit, pineapple, pine, oak, thistle. Medium body, easy carbonation, resinous. Extremely hoppy, nice sharp bitter bite. I would have liked a maltier balance, but that’s the most trivial nit pick. Yeah, it’s worth the hype.

Sample at a tasting. Fruity and quite dank. Light malt sweetness with dank notes and a somewhat harsh bitterness. Not up to the hype, I am afraid.

Hazy, straw color, Aroma is good, Hoppy but not too much, well hidden. But when taste it, the hoppy flavor comes very strong. Very complex but well balanced. Piney... Dry finish.
