Can from Ernesto. Pours a murky orange amber with an ivory head. Bold aroma of floral and citrusy hops. Fuller side of medium bodied with perfect carbonation and an earthy mouthfeel. Nice subtle pale malt backdrop with a note of honey, but hops just bombard the palate with grapefruit and tangerine, with a hint of pine. Bitter and dry resiny finish. I mean this is a hop bomb and just smacks you in the face. Addictively great. Probably the best IIPA I have had to date. Pliny, I think it’s time to start seeing other people. I found someone else and she’s got bigger cans.

I prefer this beer two weeks after purchase when everything has melted together so nicely. It then reveals to be more peach and pine on the aroma. When young it is completely overwhelming but without being harsh. It is an incredibly easy to drink beer even with high abv and heavily hopped. I simply love it.

"this is a seriously drinkable iipa. reminded me of fresh gubna in a way...more pine and spice here perhaps. you can tell the abv is high, but it’s oh so easy drinking. bright vibrant sticky hops and a nice malt backbone. VERY well done.

Hazy yellow pour. Aroma plants, pine, peaches, grapes. Tastes woody, yeast, pine, resin, minerals. Zesty palate. A fine brew.

Can shared. Pours yellow and clear. Massive hop smell. Taste of big hops...very bitter and dry. Good IPA but in my opinion not as good as Hopslam.

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2014 Blind tasting, of Double IPAs & Single IPAs. List of Double IPAs, in prefered order: The Crusher, Heady Topper, Pliny The Elder, Deviant Dale’s List of Single IPAs, in prefered order: Focal Banger, Grapefruit Sculpin, Moralité/Blind Pig A – Glowing hazy yellow with a thick head. S – Very pungent piney, citrusy aroma. Pineapple, over ripe fruit, hop forward. T – Taste does not disappoint, again straight forward hops, no crystal malt, very dry. The amount of hop taste The Alchemist actually gets is very impressive. M – Mouthfeel fills your mouth, lively carbonation with an abrupt bitterness finish, quite oily O – The amount of hop taste The Alchemist actually gets is very impressive, the aroma, especially if you smell out of the can is very very intense, but the taste completely mimics it.

The definition of IPA. BITTER, citrus, floral, hoppy deliciousness. This is the only IPA I've had to date that beats my home brew. Wow. What an experience.

Very nice, dank and piney aroma and taste. Very balanced between malt sweetness and hop bitterness. Only downside for me is the lack of some tropical fruit and the alcohol being just a bit too present.
