chimplechamp (463), Oslo, Norway Mar 27, 2008 Updated: May 5, 2008Draft at BlindtigerOne of the best double ipas I’ve ever had.
The flavour was unbelievable, big juicy flowery hops, well balanced with a good dosage of malts. the hop character is absolutely genius. citrus, flower grass, pine, none to overpowering. and such good mouthfeel really juicy hop flavour. Sregnar35 (729), Rotterdam, New York, USA Jul 15, 2005 Updated: Jul 19, 2005Had this on tap at the Alchemist pub in waterbury, VT. Great, thick creamy double IPA, wish I lived closer, so I could get this all the time. Volgon (2487), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Jan 30, 2005 XBF05: Clear dark orangy yellow, with a large white rocky head that leaves good lacing. Huge spicy pine, citrus, resin aroma, full bodied with lively carbonation starts and ends heavily bitter with a touch of acidity at the end. An excellent example of an IIPA. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA Mar 15, 2004 Updated: Sep 20, 2006March 2004: Draught at the brewpub. Very light golden appearance, almost no head. Fruit, fruit, fruit in the nose -- oranges, grapefruit, apples. Very aromatic indeed. Very sweet, soft at first, with many fruits, brown sugar and a hint of cinnamon, but a massive hop-whallop (120 IBUs) takes over shortly. Smooth and creamy throughout, low carbonation. Not at the top for the style, but quite tasty and dangerously drinkable. 8/3/8/4 16 3.9
September 2006: This year’s edition definitely shows more malt presence in the body, and the aroma is if anything even more fragrant, fruity and floral with some light touches of berry. Really coming along, approaching mastery... goldtwins (4079), Nesconset, New York, USA Apr 7, 2008 Tap @ Blind Tiger. I am very impressed with this beer. Poured a slightly hazed orange-copper color with a small white head. A strong but very nice hop forward aroma. Citrus and pine. There was some sweet malt underneath but it does not distract from the hops :) The beer had a large hop flavor with citrus and pine mixed together. Mild to moderate sweetness with a hint of malt. Moderate bitterness on the finish helps give it a stiff backbone and balance. Semi-dry with a meidum body. Very nice. MartinT (5030), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jan 31, 2005 Updated: Oct 24, 2005The Lure: Gorgeous grapefruit and oranges make the mouth water and the mind not care about the shyness of the malt underneath. Great lacing around an obviously unfiltered authenticity.
The Festivities: Addictive citrus fruit and hop resin cooperate marvelously in this well-brewed and quite quaffable all-hop affair. Biscuity malts clings to the yeast. Superb hop bitterness follows the multi-faceted hop flavors, and lingers ad vitam eternam. A tad more malt sweetness and complexity would definitely propel it to stardom, but this is already fantastic as is.
Transcendence: Millions of sunrays uplift the spirit. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA Mar 26, 2008 Draft at Blind Tiger. Apricot color with a small head. Flavor is C hops with some peach. Decent IIPA with a nice, dry finish. beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jul 20, 2005 Pours a cloudy golden color with a thin white head. Amazing aroma of resinous and citrusy hops. Amazing flavor of resinous and citrusy hops with a strong backbone of biscuity malt. Strong and very long lasting bitter finish. The body is medium with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. I love this beer.
