kind of hard to rate appearance when you drink it out of a can. this beer is so good they might declare it illegal.

Amazing. I could drink this beer all day. The fact that it's 8% doesn't detract from its taste at all. Great hoppy taste without being overly hoppy. A nice grapefruit juice color and nice head that fades quickly. when poured from the can. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Huge grapefruit notes with fresh pine scents. Poured half in glass so I could take a gander at this beaut. Hazy yellow body, minimal white head with limited lacing. Waves of grapefruit taste blanket a bed of fresh pine needles. Finishes with sweet citrus / apricot flavors and a bit of a spicy peppery aftertaste. Drank the remainder from can. “Oh, this beer here is cold, cold and hop-bitter, no point coming up for air, gulp, till it’s all–hahhhh.” I would drink this beer for the rest of my life and be fully sated.

Can shared at RichTheVillan’s, 27/11/13. Pours clear orange gold, offwhite head with decent retention. Huge blast of grapefruit and bitter orange on the nose, some caramel malt underneath but essentially this is all citrus. Tastes medium sweet, little caramel, then big bitter, loads of juicy citrus, again grapefruit and orange. Touch of booze, medium carbonation, oily, medium body. I feel my rating of this benefits from being in retrospect cos I now have a better idea of what separates the ’mythical’ beers from the merely very good ones, and that’s not a lot tbh. Nevertheless, this is one of the best I’ve had, for sure.

Poured from a can compliments of friend Pete’s trip to Vermont into a Spiegelau glass. Light yellow at the base and deeper orange toward the huge off white head. As it settled down the cloudy brew was more consistent. Aroma is juicy citrus fruits subtle pine. Flavor is W-o-W! Luscious grapefruit & oranges sweet with a nice lingering bitterness. If it lingered longer I would bump this up to almost perfection. Its all it supposed to be. Superb and hard to get. Worth every moment of pursing if you don’t live in Vermont.

Some can descriptions are never accurate! And some are right on like this one: "so drinkable it’s scary", "young fresh and hazy", "wave after wave of hoppy goodness on your palate","dense hoppy finish in your mouth","an unfiltered and unpasteurized experience","not intended to be the biggest or the most bitter","I wish I could crawl right into the can" -John Kimmich, aka the Alchemist, describes his beer the best right on the can! I must say I believe the hype on heady topper! I don’t think Ive ever consumed a beer so quick, wave after wave of hoppy goodness is a perfect description! sweet lemon butter tannins to ripe peach honeyness to satsuma tangerine’s to sweet ruby red and pink grapefruit’s. I want more! And would love to try on draft!

close to perfection. very, very good IIPA. probably deserves a higher rating, but got so hyped up that is was delicious but not amazing. very hoppy, like my IIPAs even hoppier. wish I had more than one can to really give this an honest review.

Can. Pours hazy yellow orange. Lasting off white head. Nose is big. Pine and citrus. Taste is sticky pine and grapefruit and citrus and dankness. Some nice sweetness. Dry. Lasting bitterness in the aftertaste that continues to build. A great alternative to Pliny.
