Hmmm. How do I explain another overly hopped, could use some more balance beer. The reason this beer is so coveted is because it is so hard to find. I think IPAs like Hopslam have more balance but given it’s easier to get a hold of, it doesn’t had the same aura. Give it a shot…definitely worth it if you can….i just find it’s undifferentiated from the plethora of IPAs on the market today.

Thanks to Steve for this thoughtful gift. Pours a bright, hazy golden in color with a medium, slowly settling, white head. The aroma is heavy, with plenty of grapefruit, orange, pineapple, peach, and floral hops. The taste is extremely bitter and hoppy, with a very dry finish. Pine and grapefruit are most prevalent here. Peach, pineapple, tangerine, and orange are found as well. There are touches of sweetness that compliment the beer instead of overpowering it. The aftertaste is a long lasting grapefruit flavor. Medium in body, a slick, slightly sticky texture, and lots of lively carbonation. Despite everything this is offering, I find this very easy to drink. Its delicious, refreshing, yet still packs a punch. This is one outstanding beer. It is among the best of this style that I’ve ever had. It might be the best. I won’t be forgetting this one anytime soon.

From notes, 16 ounce can consumed on 5/18/2013 at ChurchKey. Hazy honey orange with two fingers of off-white head. Nice head retention and lacing. Aromas of grapefruit and other citrus fruit, tropical fruit, caramel, floral notes. Tastes of big grapefruit citrus, caramel, pine, resin. Medium body with a semi-dry and bitter finish. Medium carbonation. Great stuff.

Huge hoppy citrus arome from this clear orange highly carbonated brew. Taste of grass brapefruit and malt back bone. Dominated by fresh hop character. Great brew

Once again my Brother comes through. Poured from can into pint glass. Pours a light hazy orange color. Aroma is citrus, grapefruit, hops. This is a well balanced Hoppy beer.

Can - 473ml. Pours a hazy, light amber body with an average, lasting, white foamy head. Fresh, complex aroma for such a hoppy beer. It is obvouisly dominated by hops but malty, citrusy, and some subtle vanilla hints are noticeable. Its sharp hoppy taste carries citrusy, coriander, and piney notes. Ends with a long, strong bitter finish. Awesome DIPA and a perfect pick for my 3000th rating!

Got a 4-pack in a trade. Shared two with friends, drank two: one from a glass, one from the can. Can seemed to be more pungent, like it funneled the citrusy hop goodness into my mouth. Aroma is pure citrus grapefruit hops. Taste follows and expands. There’s malt here, but its just enough to balance out those hard hitting hops. Still this isn’t a bitter hop-bomb. Like Pliny (which I was fortunate enough to have side-by-side with this), this is incredibly well done, balanced, and drinkable, especially for 8%. I couldn’t decide if I liked Pliny or this more; they’re both perfect DIPAs and perfect beers to me. I know Heady is supposed to be hazy since that’s just the nature of their approach to brewing, but I deducted a point for appearance because Pliny easily outdoes it and looks absolutely marvelous in a glass. Overall a n incredible beer. Must-try.

Rating #1100. Fresh Can from trade with matt. Pours a hop hazy bright amber with a white head. Aroma is just hop-forward with peach, orange, ripe grapefruit, weak floral notes, mandarin, clementine, resin and some overall tropical notes. Behind this there is a typical DIPA malt presence - but not in a bad way. Taste is just crispy, bitter and refreshing. So drinkable! Resin, bitter citrusy hops, grapefruit, sweet orange, mandarin, weak resin, some weak malt which gives the beer some nice body and a nice balance. I would love to have this on a regular basis!

Can shared with Vestergaard and rasmusott. Boom! Pours hazy orange with a thin white head. Aromas of a sweeter grape, peach, some tropical pineapple, sweet ripe orange. Smooth malt profile. Taste is booming with peach, sweet orange, pineapple, slight pine, slight caramel malt, lots of resin. Some grassy hops but not a lot. Veryyy smooth.

Fairly fresh can. Pours hazy yellow-amber with a small white head. Aroma has sweet, tropical fruits, pineapple, lots of peach, pear, crispy hops, a bit of caramel malts and citrussy mandarin. Taste has a nice body with lots of peach, orange, grape fruit peel, a nice hoppy bitterness, some grassy and resin notes. Great balance between malty and hoppy sweetness and fruits, and the high bitterness. The bitterness is also carried very well by the fittingly full body. High carbonation. Great double IPA for sure!
