tiggmtl (4180), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jul 20, 2004 Updated: Nov 22, 2005 Original Rating (8-3-8-5-17=4.1): Extremely fruity aroma - orange and grapefruit hops nose battles with yeasty esters. Clear, light amber coloured with decent off-white head that lasts nicely. Bitterness is masked by the opening sweet fruitiness but creeps up from the sides of the tongue. Citrus y hop flavours mingle wonderfully with sweet malts and yeasty esters. Alcohol is not at all apparent in the flavour although it is gently warming. Medium body and smooth creamy mouthfeel. A pleasure on the tongue. More please. On tap at the Vermont Brewers Festival. Rerate (7-4-8-4-14=3.7): Orange, grapefruit-citrus, resinous hop nose. Opaque yellow-tan coloured body is topped with a low, fine bubbled, white head that recedes to a partial cover and rings with lace down the sides of the glass. Very strong hop bitterness and assertive, tart, citrus character - this one is all about the hops although sweet malt character is evidenced underneath. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Sampled on tap at the brewpub with beerbuzzmontreal, MartinT, Rastacouere and Yowie.
goldtwins (3730), Nesconset, New York, USA Apr 7, 2008 Tap @ Blind Tiger. I am very impressed with this beer. Poured a slightly hazed orange-copper color with a small white head. A strong but very nice hop forward aroma. Citrus and pine. There was some sweet malt underneath but it does not distract from the hops :) The beer had a large hop flavor with citrus and pine mixed together. Mild to moderate sweetness with a hint of malt. Moderate bitterness on the finish helps give it a stiff backbone and balance. Semi-dry with a meidum body. Very nice. nhorween (505), New York, New York, USA Mar 29, 2008 Tap at BT. Hazy orange pour with a thin soapy, white head. CItrus and apricot in the aroma - pleasant wildflower type hoppiness. Stronger piney/grassy component than I expected in the flavor. Nice green finish and the alcohol is well hidden. Great beer overall. puzzl (1722), New York, New York, USA Mar 27, 2008 Tap at Bling Tiger. Big hoppy aroma and fierce oregano and basil. I seem to be the only one that tasted those, but taste them I did. Even more in the flavor, especially the Oregano, like walking into a pizza parlor. Works as a very nice compliment to the hops. Palate is thick and really not that bitter considering the IBUs. Enjoyable. chimp_lechamp (343), glasgow, Scotland Mar 27, 2008 Updated: May 5, 2008Draft at BlindtigerOne of the best double ipas I’ve ever had.
The flavour was unbelievable, big juicy flowery hops, well balanced with a good dosage of malts. the hop character is absolutely genius. citrus, flower grass, pine, none to overpowering. and such good mouthfeel really juicy hop flavour. golubj (967), Redwood City, California, USA Mar 26, 2008 Draft at the Blind Tiger. Nice orange pour, with a thin white film on top. Aroma is pine hops, lemon rind, and citrusy hop oils. The flavor is the same, oily and resiny mouthfeel and good bitterness. There is a lot of citrus in the end, and good malt throughout.
