4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 VTHopHead (1331) - Barre, USA - AUG 10, 2008
Draft at the brewpub - Poured a pretty orange-amber in color with a thick white head. Significant lacing on the glass. Aroma was strong of citrus hops and orange peel. Flavor was a delicious mix of lots of citrus/pine hops and a very complementary amount orange peel. Some malty undertones, but this one is mostly about the hops. Finish is long and bitter with the flavor of the orange lingering as well.. This one is a real winner! Awesome!
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Glouglouburp (4558) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 12, 2011
Probably the last rating for this brewpub. This is a rating from my backlog for a beer I had on location Saturday august 27 2011. The day after the pub did not open because of hurricane Irene and then Wateterbury was flooded and the pub was totally destroyed. R.I.P. Alchemist, thanks for all the great memories
In short: An intense fruity uber-dry-hopped blonde IPA
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Cloudy yellow-blonde body topped by a long-lasting small white head
In long: Intense nose that is mostly big fruity hops with tropical fruits, passion fruits, a bit of cat urine (I suspect Citra) and a bit of resin. Taste has a big full doughy body, a whole lot of dry-hopping here, oranges, juicy hops essence that does not feel too resinous/sticky, plenty of tropical and citrus fruits, orange peels. Bitterness level is only medium despite the enormous amount of hops present in there witch a lot of it being aromatic/dry-hopping. The end-result is a hop bomb that is never aggressive and remains very refreshing despite the full nourishing body. Another excellent hop-fix from the Alchemist brewpub… and my last one ever. A few hours after I drank this beer the pub was completely destroyed by hurricane Irene flood. I still have a hard time believing that this really happened. Unreal. The climate is really all screwed up. These are strange times we live in, Greece is falling apart, the middle-east is at war, and Rome is collapsing. It’s like I’m rating a beer in 200AC.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Pastor (700) - Maine, USA - AUG 19, 2009
I finished off my night with this brew. It was served to me in a pill’s type glass it was a straw colored body. With a nice two finger billowing white head that lasted as long as my glass of beer lasted.
Awesome Simcoe aroma filled my nose big and floral. Piney along with a nice citrus note as well. The flavor of orange peel and grapefruit were strong on this brew. A great hop head brew if I don’t say so myself. It was very refreshing and had a medium feel in my mouth with ample carbonation.
This brew was really easy to drink would have had another if it wasn’t for the fact. I took my parents to the place and didn’t was to be too drunk when I left.

on tap at the brewpub. Fairly clear orange in color with a medium, well retaining white head that left nice lacing on the tulip that it was served in. Aroma of strong citrus and tropical fruit/orange peel. Taste is citrusy, loads of PNW hops as well as orange peel. Moderately sweet mid palate with a good malt backbone and a nice moderate to strong hop bitterness in the finish for the style. Great IIPA.
