jcwattsrugger (4045), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Oct 10, 2007 @VT Beerfest–on tap-pours a big retaining foamy white head and hazy amber color. Aroma is bitter citrus. Taste is bitter grapefruit hops/lemon-which is drying, plastic mouth feel. Too big, sipping.
notalush (2071), Rawn-kawn-kohma, New York, USA Aug 5, 2007 Tap at the brewpub - explosive, grassy, piney hop aroma, with a huge, dry, woody character - very crisp, herbal, earthy simcoe hop flavor, balanced with a perfect malt backbone, not getting sticky like most - hops remain center stage, and keep the finish very dry and woody - reminds me of Sixpoint Gemini - nice. muzzlehatch (4424), Burlington, Vermont, USA Jul 31, 2007 6 ounce draught sample at the Vermont Brewer’s Fest (July 2007). Murky and rather dirty-dusky loozing bronze with a lasting creamy white head....aroma an intense mix of resninous PNW hops, lots of citrus...but also it seems to me something of a noble hop character, Hallertauer perhaps? could be imagination, but the dry grassiness adds a lot of interest....juicy, pungent and quite bitter throughout, cherry-apricot juice character in the middle....quite full-bodied, low carbonation, lightly syrupy. Another solid effort from Vermont’s IPA master. VTHopHead (700), Barre, Vermont, USA Jul 29, 2007 Draft at the brewpub on 7/7/07 - Poured a darkish amber in color with a small off-white head that faded quickly. Aroma was distinct/strong of citrusy and piney hops. Underlying sweetness that foretells of a nicely balance of malt. Flavor is *big* with hopiness (yum!) and the anticipated malt balance is clearly present. This is one of my favorites that John has done to date. I’m hoping that this one comes back again and again and... !! JoeMcPhee (3807), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jul 27, 2007 Vermont Brewers Fest ’07. Deep amber beer. Whoa… it’s like I stepped off a plane in San Diego. Rich resiny hoppy aroma with loads of earthy orange, grapefruit and cascadey goodness. Loads of dry hopped resiny aroma. Caramel with fresh berries on the back. Very fresh with both the malts and hops well put together. Lean but not bland maltiness. Rich resiny flavour on the back… I hope this fest ends like it started, because this is one awesome IPA.
