Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Stas. Dark brown to black with a beige head. Aroma of caramel, licorice, some roast. Sweet flavor with caramel, some roast, a chocolate note and a bit of licorice. Medium-bodied. A decent Baltic Porter, quite classic for the style.

Muy dulce, se siente mucho el sabor a caramelo. Olor ahumado agradable, pero el gusto dulzon deja un resabio en boca que disminuye la potabilidad. Tomada en Jerlgava, enero de 2015, Letonia

Drank from a bottle. Quite nice, slightly sweet and a bit smoky. I think this is one of the better traditional Baltic porters.

Bottle 0,5l at Folkklubs Ala Pagrabs in Riga, Latvia. Pours a dark brown color with a nice head that diminish into a ring of lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, with bit of chocolate, coffee and trace of dark fruit. Taste of roasted malt, with chocolate, coffee and caramel. Mild bitterness ad the finish is quite dry. Fairly full body, witha smooth and creamy texture. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I had this at Yia-yia’s downtown because I had never had a Baltic porter before and was interested in trying one. Unfortunately, my first experience will probably be my last. Very malty and thick it struck me as having a cough-syrup flavor that really put me off and it just didn’t go away and I couldn’t get used to it.

(Bottle, 0.5 l - BB 24.07.2014, thanks masse, 20141121) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had fruitiness, green apples and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, chocolate, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, roasty and bitter. The aroma was weird but the taste was good.
