Very nice porter. Best beer from Aldaris :) Nice coffee, chocolate aroma. Nice foamy head. Kinda sweet, goes well with dessert. Wife likes it also. Overall nice, easy drinking beer with moderate body complexity.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, from an ethnic food store in Scunthorpe. Jet black, fluffy but shortlived coffee brown head and gentle condition. Low burnt toffee, blackcurrant, liquorice and a slight beefstock note in the nose, quite full and sweet in the mouth with a pleasanty figgy note, slight peppery spiciness and a low earthy bitterness, figgy finish with a slight yeasty bitterness and a warming retronasal alcohol note

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very very different Baltic Porter. The aromas are all around an odd base of Root Beer – the Ginger Beer type. Yes, there’s caramels and prunes, but it’s that damn soft drink base. The beer pours like see-thorugh American coffee, but it hangs dark brown in the glass, with an average cream-coloured head. Flavours of root beer, molasses, caramels, peat, Karo, bourbon, Bockbier… but in the end it tastes like some kind of miracle tonic that a quack would sell out of a coach. Cloying and herbal, and with not much bitterness to be found, it has a medium body and it just stands out as an oddity. My positive rating is for the uniqueness of Aldaris Porteris. Still, I’d love to have an extra bottle to keep for a year or more before opening. I’m sure the root beerness would go away and we’d have a rounder, less herbal, but more fruitier brew.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours see-through dark brown with a thin off-white head. Aromas are all sugars - caramel, toffee, burnt sugar. Taste is kinda sweet, very minimal bitterness coming through. For all that, a clean finish. Enjoyable.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
The black body is accompanied by a quickly fading light brown head that laces minimally. Nose is strong aromas of coffee, chokolate, roasted coffee beans and caramel. The taste is fairly intense and dominated by a soft sweet bitterness that leads to a long, dry finish. Carbonation is very soft and works well with the thick and syrupy palate. This is a very nice and well balanced one.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
0.5 bottle. Black in color, quite big, tanned head on top, leaves a nice lacing and has some retention too. Dark malts are the most prominent in the aroma, chocolaty notes, some berries. Sweet taste juxtaposed with an unusual acidity, very malty, a lot of caramel and sour forest fruit notes, earth, leather and raisins; it’s got quite a character. Full body, thick texture and flat carbonation. Finish is moderately long and exhibits increased fruitiness, balanced better than the taste. The beer can be overtly called a splendid, very satisfying brew.
