3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
500ml Bottle from Beers of Europe website (£2.69):
Sweet dark malts with some sugar and roasted notes along with a mix of darker fruits and some vanilla too. The smell isn’t as in your face as I was expecting from a 6.8% Baltic porter but at the same time this wasn’t exactly week either. There was some raisin, liquorice and touches of alcohol too.
Dark brown that is opaque and topped off with a centimetre tall, bubbly head that is a light brown colour. Retention is good & there is some nice lacing too.
Sweet with dark fruits, a lot of sugar and slightly more alcohol than I would have liked. There is a few roasted malts and a rich, malty flavour that is rounded off with some light chocolate that lingers at the end.
Sweet with a medium to light medium body and some grain. The mouthfeel was fairly smooth and quite rich but the balance was pretty terrible with the flavours coming in all over the place.
Almost like a foreign export stout in places, especially when the roasted malts and chocolate made itself known alongside the sweetness that ran all the way through the drink. The beer was drinkable but not all that enjoyable with the alcohol coming across a little harsh and no of the flavours really working well with the others.

Bottle. Almost black. Apple strip and à hint of roast in the aroma. Roasty sweetish, slightly salty flavor with licorice and plums. Medium bodied. Tasty, maybe à bit simple porter

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Beers of Europe. Poured a deep mahogany with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is rich creamy caramel roasted malt with some liqourice hop. The flavour is moderate sweet light bitter malt liqourice palate. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. I need to spend more time in Riga!

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Dark brown, more or less opaque. Noticeable tan head which dissipates quickly. Medium carbonation. The aroma is strong on the liquorice with full alcohol on the nose. Subtler notes of chocolate and raspberries. Sweet and smooth throughout, absolutely sublime. An unexpected find from the corner shop.

Very nice porter. Best beer from Aldaris :) Nice coffee, chocolate aroma. Nice foamy head. Kinda sweet, goes well with dessert. Wife likes it also. Overall nice, easy drinking beer with moderate body complexity.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, from an ethnic food store in Scunthorpe. Jet black, fluffy but shortlived coffee brown head and gentle condition. Low burnt toffee, blackcurrant, liquorice and a slight beefstock note in the nose, quite full and sweet in the mouth with a pleasanty figgy note, slight peppery spiciness and a low earthy bitterness, figgy finish with a slight yeasty bitterness and a warming retronasal alcohol note
