glkaiser (1015), Seattle, Washington, USA May 9, 2008 Very dark reddish brown with large light brown head. Fantastic light coffee and smooth roast in the taste. A bit of dark fruit. Not too sweet. Fucking lovely. Just a very enjoyable, fairly light beer, that gave me what I wanted.
douglas88 (917), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Nov 16, 2008 500 ml bottle bought at College Liquors in Grand Junction, Colorado. Pours out a very dark red-black hue with a large pillow-like beige head. The aroma is very powerful; tons of fruits, caramel malts, bready and sweet, nice! The taste is also quite nice; a rich fruitiness; mostly dark fruits like raisins and plum, but also some berries and perhaps even strawberry. Some rich caramel malts along with a thick and chewy mouthfeel. Some liquorish and bready flavors also. Very enjoyable. Warm and very tasty. Batch 01.12.06. I’m assuming that is a date, so about two years old. Very good. Svesse (1839), Hässelby, Sweden Oct 29, 2008 (Bottle. Thanks to SaintMatty) Deep ruby colour with lasting, firm brown head, leaving lots of lacing. Malty, fruity nose with dark rye bread, dark berries, cherries and caramel. Malty taste with notes of dark rye bread, chocolate, caramel and a touch of cherries and dark fruit. More than medium body, smooth mouthfeel. Sweet, actullay a bit too sweet. Lacking some hops, focus is on sweet malt and caramel. Nice, warming and tasty. In short: liquid dark bread with sweet cherries and caramel. mmmbeer (602), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 28, 2008 16.9 oz bottle in trade from RCL- thanks! Served in pint glass- poured black with a ruby tint when held to a light source, low carbonation, inviting half finger tan head formed and laced a little along the sides. Aroma of caramel, cheap coffee grounds, roasted malt, and seawater (?). Hits the mouth with a full body, malt has a smoke quality to it, a touch of sweetness in the middle, finish is creamy, has a warming quality, and is inviting of another sip. Good stuff maynard- really bummed that I don’t have more for nights when it gets a little chilly. Sparky27 (683), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Oct 18, 2008 Bottle courtesy of SoLan. Pours a deep mahogany with a one finger cream head and spotty, chunky lacing. Nose is sweet malt and bread. Taste is sweet dark fruits, smoked malt and molasses with some chocolate notes in the finish. Medium, fairly creamy mouth feel. A little too sweet for me. Thanks Alan! yesyouam (370), Fairport, New York, USA Sep 21, 2008 Aldaris Porteris is a clear, dark red beer with a dense beige head that shows nice retention and leaves excellent lacing. It has a sweet, malty aroma that has some roastiness to it. It has a smooth medium body with a syrupy finish. It is sweet, malty and roasty; a little sour and a little bitter. It’s pretty well balanced. This was a pleasant surprise. I got this for 93 cents!
