Cruzan59 (141), Lititz, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 5, 2008 1pt 9oz bottle from 6-Pack & Subs, Lancaster, PA...last one in the cooler...Latvia? OK!...pours very dark brown, medium tan head...sweet smell of toasted malts, mocha...mildly sweet, smooth taste of dark fruits, some hints of coffee and chocolate, alcohol well hidden but seems to give a little bit of a black licorice flavor...smooth mouthfeel...I really enjoyed this.
Indulgence (68), Ajo, Arizona, USA Aug 22, 2008 I am partial to this one, since my wife is from Latvia. I’ve had this on several occasions in the country of origin. This one reminds me of a sweet malted milk shake and some coffee grounds thrown in, some dark prunish fruits as well and some herbalness, dark brown almost opaque and it attains an immediate 3 finger sticky head, settles to a fine layer of soapy lace, flavors are dark fruits, malted chocolate, some bitter coffee and herbs, palate is pretty thick, somewhat syrupy... I’ve drank a lot of these so I must like it. Give it a try. LooseCannon (642), Norfolk, Virginia, USA Aug 21, 2008 16.9oz bottle, batch nr. 008. Pours deep brown in color with full foamy brwon head.
