3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours dark with a small tan head. Malty aroma with a hint of roasted coffee. Taste is soft, has begins with malts, then coffee and has a nice dark chocolate finish with slight bitterness. Soft mouthfeel and mild carbonation. Very nice although I agree there’s a small metallic taste to it which is a bit distracting.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice porter with a lot of flavor. The downside is that it’s a bit metallic in the taste, but otherwise a very good and quite easy to drink porter.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Black, minimal beige shead. Caramel and chestnut aroma. Really sweet. Dry, yet refreshing. Soft carbonation, medium/light body. Feels good in your stomach (if that says something). Overrated and far from the best (according to the ratings of this site) Latvian beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
500 ml bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours nearly opaque dark brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toast, raisin, plum, dark bread, brown sugar, light chocolate/roast, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of dark/bready malt and yeast ester fruitiness; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, raisin, plum, dark bread, brown sugar, light chocolate/roast, and yeast earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, raisin, plum, dark bread, brown sugar, light chocolate/roast, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness and solid complexity of dark/bready malt and yeast ester flavors; with a great malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, moderately creamy, and slightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice Baltic porter style. Good balance and robustness of dark/bready malt and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.
