hmmm... Latvian Porter? This beer is a proof that Latvia belongs to beer belt, not vodka belt. Not So thick, not So porter-alike. But, a good beer With fantastic bitterness. Caramel and herbs...sage. I recommend, that this beer must be enjoyed quite warm to get all tastes up. However, entity is not freshest possible - a bit diesel-alike. But yes, definitely it won’t be my last alderis porter.

500ml bottle from Alko

Pours pitch black with a small bubbly head. Aroma of caramely malts, syrup, hints of roastiness and licorice. Taste is sweet, caramely, syrupy with hints of roastiness and licorice. Finish is smooth, carbonated and sweet with ripe fruits and syrupy notes. Decent, not very roasty porter.

Poured this beer from a large bottle into a trumpet glass to drink. The beer had a mostly cloudy deep brown-ruby red color with a touch of copper and a big foamy dark tan head with good retention and cling, and great lacing. The aroma featured caramel malt mixed with some earthy and grainy hops, and some lighter dense fruit and raisin. It had a sweet-sour taste with a deep fruit and raisin blend, along with lighter notes of licorice, caramel, and perhaps pear. The body was wet and creamy with a full, watery mouthfeel, and had lower carbonation and fizz.

Bottled, 500ml from Grosik European Supermarket, Banbury, Oxon. Very dark brown with short cream head. Initially quite malty sweet with sweet liquorice and a blackberry note. Then the carbonation note pushes through, slight wet cardboard finally a vanilla caramel flavour. Quite varied in flavours and pretty reasonable.

Pours black with a rocky beige head. Aroma has roasty and malty elements and also notes of rye bread, licorice and some caramel. Taste is surprisingly sweet, flavours of caramel, rye pudding and licorice feature. Some roastedness too but not as much as expected. No alcohol in the taste, hoppiness is also absent. Palate is medium bodied and very smooth, flat carbonation. Interestingly sweet porter, I usually prefer a bit roastier ones but this was OK.

From a bottle in a bowling alley in Latvia. Nice dark brown / black with a nice head / lacing. Aroma of caramel malts and some chocolate. Pretty sweet, not much hop bitterness but a nice drink, and a bit of a surprise. Decent.

Colabrun i färgen, snabbt smutsigt skum. Doftar mörk malt, choklad, lite gräs och våt malt. Smakar mustigt, rostad malt, söta chokladtoner, lite metallisk p slutet med bitterhet. Ok porter.

A quality bargain porter with true history and none of the over priced nonsense of a craft beer brewed in Indiana. Pours a dark coffee almost black color a one finger head with no lacing. Has a sweet chocolate and raisin taste. Good carbonation.
