2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 D (577) - Gdynia, POLAND - JUL 22, 2006
A typical lager, but rather well made - not too much carbonation, strong hops flavour, bitter finish. Drinks well, nice summer lager as the fellow ratebeerian wrote.

Bottle from Super Saver. Gold pour with white head and aromas of slight hopcit, some honey and pale malts. Tastes bready malty, with some caro syrup and subdued hopcitrus. There’s nothing particularly wrong with this one, but nothing that really stands out either. Not too shabby.

This was an interesting one. Aroma was a bit week, at least I couldn’t make much of it. The flavor, though, was surprisingly pretty good. Definite fruity touch to it and it was fairly sweet, but not filled with a bunch of adjuncts. I’d go back to this as a nice summer lager.

Crisp malty flavour. Shiny gold can. Probably bagged a sixpack in the airport. Bead disappears after about 5mins. A bit like drinking lager cordial. Nevertheless, a worthwhile souvenir of any Latvian expedition.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 igneous1 (1415) - Davenport, Iowa, USA - MAY 14, 2006
hazy pale golden color, huge frothy white head. aroma was somewhat sour, and not really oxidized as i’d have suspected. flavor was a spot tart, fairly malty and very mild oxidation notes. this one actually surprised me a bit....probably due to the brown bottle.

UPDATED: APR 26, 2006 Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours yellow/gold with a white head. Aroma of citrus, sweet malts. Flavor is sweet, citrusy, and a dry finish. Better than US macro brews.

Bottle. Pours yellow/gold with a minimal white head. Aroma of citrus, sweet malts, slight hops to the nose. Flavor is sweet, citrusy, slight hops giving way to a dry finish, nothing great, but it was drinkable. thin watery body, average brew maybe slightly less, but more enjoyable then the big US macros.

Bottle Riga Nov 2004, and at Riga airport on draught. This was actually called Zelta Gold it lived up to the colour description, bit lightweight some malt but dry finish nothing to write home about.
