Malts dominate leaving a pleasant aftertaste. The label shows that this beer has won a few
medals in the past and I could see why. Nice appearance with a slightly toasted taste.
Quite a strong gravity which you are soon aware off. Recommended.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
UPDATED: JUL 11, 2011 Huge soapy-sudzy white head, but it dissipates fast. Clear-as-glass, straw-golden hue. Very soft, like soft water. Yeasty-funky nose, with strange aromas. Slight skunky bite with faint herbal aromas. Synthetic sweetness is reminiscent of plastic, corn and fermented dough.

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium yellow, thin density of small particles. Aroma is lightly hoppy (flowers, herbs), lightly malty (grain), with a note of solvent. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly bitter, slightly husky. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Too sweet, with some off-aromas/flavors.

Presence of damp pondweed hops in a thick and brackish malty body. Really weird stuff.

hazy gold, best when cold! prickly effervesence and a little hop bite at the back of the throat. some thin malts throughout. when it warmed, it turned ugly.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Not very exciting. not very sweet and the flavor is not very bold at all. Kind of a funny, metallic aftertaste though.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
A slight haze with a nice head with good lace. A dry malt flavor with a decent hops balance. A sulfur/metalic finish does it in though. After warming these flavors did diminish, but first impressions count in flavor.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Thickish, malty, oddly calibrated but not altogether unpleasant. Would be absolutely unbearable warm, so make sure your Zelta is well-chilled. Good with heartier pizzas and pastas.

Zelta means gold in Latvian. The golden brew is all I wanted to get on tap while I was in Riga(Latvia’s capitol). It’s a good conversational beer.
