2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 blankboy (4287) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 29, 2010
Can [500ml]. Mini-Swill Night: Beer #2. Pours a slightly hazy yellow-gold with a large somewhat-lasting fluffy white head. This is already looking up after the Banks. Aroma of light grassy hops, grain and some slight vegetal notes. Watery flavour of light grassy hops, lightly sweet and grainy. Not really any finish. Light bodied. Drinkable, if one needs to, as it’s inoffensive but it’s also pretty f’ing dull.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Russo (942) - Campinas, BRAZIL - JAN 2, 2010
Drank on tap in Riga. Pale yellow color with a thin head, aroma is weak and notes of malty. Flavor is malty and notes of bitterness. Mouthfeel is a very short bitterness.
1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 DuffMan (4242) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 1, 2010
Can. Standard clear yellow lager with an average unimpressive white head. Aroma is sweet corny grossness, like a malt likra without the petroleum essence lingering in the background. The palate is medium bodied, and way way too sweet without any bittering hops to dry things out. Plastic note in the finish. Blech.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 drjay44 (1614) - Salida, Colorado, USA - NOV 3, 2009
500 ml. bottle. Pours a fluffy white head with extensive lacing, over a clear yellow (SRM 3) body....nose is mild malts, sweet corn....taste is sweet throughout, with minimal malt, minimal hops....mouth feel is light, carbonation high. This meets its insipid style quite well, and is almost undrinkable. The drain got the rest.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Vertical Bacon Strips (1617) - Asshat, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 25, 2009
Review from Feb 2007
Poured out a clear mild yellow brew with a small, foamy white cap with little retention. Smells oh so not wonderful: no lack of corn and sweetness from the bready malts. The taste wasn’t that and I pretty much chugged this back asap. Sweet mild bread, grains, some fruit as well. Bubbly in my mouth, finishes sweet but not short. It’s getting hard to keep buying these beers...
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Svesse (4215) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - SEP 9, 2009
(Can. Thanks to SaintMatty) Golden yellow colour with brief, frothy, white head. Malty nose with bread and tropical fruit. Malty, slightly sourish taste with noets of bread, pineapple, tropical fruit. Medium body, fairly sweet. Some grassy bitterness in the finish (eventually overshadowed by sweet malt). Better balance than the Luksus sampled at the same time, still not very impressive.
