Bottle Riga Nov 2004, and at Riga airport on draught. This was actually called Zelta Gold it lived up to the colour description, bit lightweight some malt but dry finish nothing to write home about.

UPDATED: JUN 12, 2012 1)Crisp malty flavour. Shiny gold can. Probably bagged a sixpack in the airport. Bead disappears after about 5mins. A bit like drinking lager cordial. Nevertheless, a worthwhile souvenir of any Latvian expedition. 526210=2.5. 2) Clear glass bottle, 12/06/12. Pale gold with a bright foamy head. Slightly sharp, sulphurous aroma with surprising lemony hop, bread and honey undercurrents. Taste is crisp and malty, albeit with a vegetable stock streak. Attractive, popcorn-like afters; rubber licks as it warms. Not the pick of the range, but certainly worthy of more than half marks...

500ml pull-top clear bottle. It pours exactly how it looks in the bottle, a pale gold with a big foamy bright white head. It actually is a nice looking beer, but that doesn’t mean you should use the clear bottle, especially for export bottles. The smell has some honey, paper, graham, and a hint of grassy hops. Not skunked thank heavens, gotta grab it from the back of the shelf. The taste is very similar to the smell, there is a big hit of grain and cooked veggies that make the flavor just average EPL crap. It will end up with a nice rating on here, but it is average at best for the style and not really worth drinking. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 12-28-2010 01:16:48

Can from a trip to Toronto a couple months back. Pours a clear light straw yellow with a large white head. Skunky, pond scum, a bit of sweetness and old musty cardboard. Medium bodied, very sweet grain flavor. Tastes slightly better than it smells, but not much. Finishes up sweet and grainy. Not so good.

500 ml bottle. From Latvia. Clear golden colour with thin head. Aroma is fruity and a bit spiced. Flavour is also fruity and a tiny hint of chocolate. A bit spiced. Palate is quite watery. Very good for a Baltic lager.

Can. Standard clear yellow lager with an average unimpressive white head. Aroma is sweet corny grossness, like a malt likra without the petroleum essence lingering in the background. The palate is medium bodied, and way way too sweet without any bittering hops to dry things out. Plastic note in the finish. Blech.

Pale gold in color, nice head just weak (Josh does not know how to pour beer ...). Great stuff, in great place. It went so nice with that Blondie, to bad she did not want give us Ice Aldaris ... Ok, seriously light stuff, boring, not much to offer.

Bottle pours translucent straw, small milky white, with lively carbonation.   Grass, grains, and malt on the aroma.   Sweet malt taste up front, followed by a slight bitterness.   Finishes with a metallic tinge.   Drinkable, but lacks any real crispness, and the finish is sub-par.

Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium yellow, thin density of small particles. Aroma is lightly hoppy (flowers, herbs), lightly malty (grain), with a note of solvent. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly bitter, slightly husky. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Too sweet, with some off-aromas/flavors.

UPDATED: SEP 7, 2005 Bottle (500ml). Poured clear gold with a decent sized soapy white head. Very vegetal-grainy, but not too sour, not to corny - it’s even a bit perfumy and there is a grassy hop aroma too. Taste is a bit lemony, sweet but not malty, and fresh-cut clover. Light but okay. Not much going on palate-wise. Incredibly quick finish and no aftertaste. Easy to drink, not offensive - beats many generic euro/pale lagers.
