Bottle from Super Saver. Gold pour with white head and aromas of slight hopcit, some honey and pale malts. Tastes bready malty, with some caro syrup and subdued hopcitrus. Thereís nothing particularly wrong with this one, but nothing that really stands out either. Not too shabby.

More country whoring. 500ml bottle, clear bright yellow with white head, typical performance, builds a bit then settles quickly. Nose is typical, taste is typical, itís a little bit of a malt liquor fuesal smell and taste, lightly sweet and moderately sharp or bitter. I mean címon itís really the same as almost every other international generic lager.

Bottled. A still looking orangey green colourd lager. The aroma is ice and water - no more. The taste is thin and watery; in fact there is no taste except a tiny lagerish alcohol bite. Wick, wick, wack.

Bottle Riga Nov 2004, and at Riga airport on draught. This was actually called Zelta Gold it lived up to the colour deScription, bit lightweight some malt but dry finish nothing to write home about.

Can. Standard clear yellow lager with an average unimpressive white head. Aroma is sweet corny grossness, like a malt likra without the petroleum essence lingering in the background. The palate is medium bodied, and way way too sweet without any bittering hops to dry things out. Plastic note in the finish. Blech.

Can from a trip to Toronto a couple months back. Pours a clear light straw yellow with a large white head. Skunky, pond scum, a bit of sweetness and old musty cardboard. Medium bodied, very sweet grain flavor. Tastes slightly better than it smells, but not much. Finishes up sweet and grainy. Not so good.

"not bad for a pale lager. still some sweet corn adjuctiness in there, but also some grain and light hopping detectable, and dare i say, a smidge of complexity. "

UPDATED: JUN 12, 2012 1)Crisp malty flavour. Shiny gold can. Probably bagged a sixpack in the airport. Bead disappears after about 5mins. A bit like drinking lager cordial. Nevertheless, a worthwhile souvenir of any Latvian expedition. 526210=2.5. 2) Clear glass bottle, 12/06/12. Pale gold with a bright foamy head. Slightly sharp, sulphurous aroma with surprising lemony hop, bread and honey undercurrents. Taste is crisp and malty, albeit with a vegetable stock streak. Attractive, popcorn-like afters; rubber licks as it warms. Not the pick of the range, but certainly worthy of more than half marks...

[553-20070823] 500mL. Corn and scrambled eggs aroma with a touch of citrus. Clear, orange gold body with a long-lasting foamy white head. Grainy corn and hay field flavour with something fruity and perhaps slightly rotting. Medium palate. Initial good impression fades after a few sips.
