2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Oakes (10184) - Gibsons, - MAY 18, 2006
Dull, dark copper colour with whispy head. Yeasty aroma with rooty hops and hints of caramel & toast. Quite bitter, rooty flavour. Some woody notes but aside from the strong bitterness the hop character isn’t really all that developed. The malts are sublimated, very husky and slightly caramelly. Footy, dusty yeast is overstated. Rather clumsy brew. I made homebrew that tasted just like this once. It was tough to drink more than two and even then I was wishing I had a well-made beer in my hand.

I think I owe scrizzz for this one. So Thanks Man! Pours pale amber and smells quite malty. There’s a little beige head. Medium body with very mild carbonation. Pleasant hit of hop. Quite a bit of citrus/resin hoppiness. It’s clean. It just isn’t uberhoppy [sorry bout that]. Good beer though.

2.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 meeple (62) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 24, 2009
Bottle. Clear tan orange, medium off-white head. Nose has bread, berry, citrus. Soft mouthfeel, fairly bitter, taste is dominated by citrusy hops. Not as refreshing as I’m used to in a pale, a combination of the softness and the (to my taste) overdone citrusiness. Improves with quaffing vs sipping, though.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 riversideAK (4553) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - FEB 16, 2009
Aroma of bread and biscuits, some floral and pine hops too. The pour is bright golden with a thin head and nice lacing. Nice dry bready flavors with a touch of caramel sweetness and a crisp pine/floral hop profile. Some bitterness comes in and lingers for a while. I found this really nice. Very sessionable, I could drink this a lot.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 tiggmtl (4475) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 22, 2008
Bready malts , butterscotch, grapefruit and notes of pine in the nose. Opaque golden tan body is topped by a generous and lasting foamy white head that laces. Flavour leans heavily towards the hops - grapefruit and pine are the main notes. Bitterness is quite pronounced and somewhat sharp with underlying bread-like malts notable only in the aftertaste. Medium body is quite dry and carbonation is a bit over the top feeling sharp on the tongue and distracting from overall enjoyment. Snifter. Cellar temperature. Bottle (Bottleworks, Aug-08).
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Angeloregon (2054) - Portland, Oregon, USA - AUG 12, 2008
Bottle from Bottleworks in Seattle--Poured a medium amber-copper body with a thick off-white head. Piny, spicily hopped sharp nose. Carbonic prickly sharp mouthfeel . Finished with a good amount of citrus and floral hops over the tongue. Quite refreshing but unbalanced.

Clear dark amber with a frothy off white head. Mild piney hop/sweet bread malt aroma. Medium body and smooth. Nice well balanced flavor with caramel sweetness perfectly balanced by lightly bitter fresh floral hops. A classic PNW session ale.

Bottle. Pours hazy amber with a massive, fluffy, lacy pale yellow head. Light aroma of mango, cotton candy, Medium body and light carbonation. A bit of fruit and toffee in the taste, but it has a bitter finish with a husky/grainy quality that increases with each swallow. I really wanted to like this one, but it’s only OK.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 scrizzz (2218) - Bothell, Washington, USA - DEC 2, 2007
foamed out of the neck once opened; bad sign. poured a massive 6 inch head over 2 inches of beer despite a careful pour. once it settled enough to take the rest of the bottle i finished pouring. hazy caramel with a lively clumsy head. sweet sandy aroma and hints of ocean air. lacing randomly down the glass. smooth and rich initially degrades to its unfiltered homebrew foundation before the fresh aromatic hops round out the experience. hints of celery.
