COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Keep yer knees bent! Please be careful when dealing with Auld Persnickety. Show him some respect or he will kick your butt! There is hella malt and a huge healthy dose of local wild honey in this beer. At 10.5% alcohol by volume it is best enjoyed by the sip. There's also a monsterous amount of hops in a feeble attempt to balance out the enormous residual sweetness.

Many thanks to skyview for sharing. Nice malty nose with strong hops as I’d expect in a young barley wine. Very sweet with a dry, raisin flavor. Golden color with faint head.

Tasting at Papsø
Cloudy amber color; small creamy head. Light caramel and phenol aroma, very light cereals. The flavor is better, substantially sweet, with good malt, mature, caramel, lightly oxidized feeling, and potent hopping. The final is less long than most American Barley Wines. Being well built and sweet, it’s a good Barley Wine, though not very complex.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of SecretSanta himself. Pours a cloudy amber with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet caramel and nuts with an oxidized touch. Solid body, very sweet malt and toffee with a solid shot of aroma hops but not quite enough to balance the massive sweetness. Some warming alcohol in the finish. 100410

2007 bottle. Poured light-medium amber with a short, swirly cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up sweeter medium-skinned fruits and pale malts with heavy alcohol amplification.. spicy pepper and floral notes at the edges.. dry hint of cardboardey oxidation at the very back. The flavor was on the strong side and it showed a little age to it.. pale malts, caramel, and lighter-skinned fruits at the core with floral and peppery bitterness around.. more oxidation than the nose with dried herbal and woodsy character.. finished sweet enough to conceal some of the warmth. Medium-bodied, dry, and spicy on the palate with low-ish carbonation.. decent all around.
