Pours cloudy deep amber with thin head and some lacing. Notes of barley malt, alcohol, citrus, and spice. Well balanced taste with a short sour finish.

versa marrone scuro, con una bella e compatta schiuma beige, al naso è molto maltosa e al palato come da stile è piuttosto dolce con leggere note torrefatte, discreta persistenza, discreto il corpo, forse il meglio della gamma aldersbacher.

500ml bottle from Ship & Mitre, Liverpool. Clear chesnut brown colour with thin beige head. Toast and malt aroma. Really good malts in mouth, give it a touch of sweetness. Some choc on aroma. Good toffee choc flavours. It’s a really good dunkel. Does everything really well. Could smell that toasty toffee choc all day. Some hop sting on finish.

Bottle. Bronze with no carbonation. Slight sweetness with a clean refreshing taste. Medium body and very pleasant.

Bottled. A red amber coloured beer with a short live whitish head. A fruity dunkel with some caramel and wood. Not as bready as I like my dunkels; the taste instead are a little bit berry like. Lacks length. I’ts different but ok(ish)

50 cL bottle. Pours almost golden dark brown with a little reddish hue. Diminished tan head. Roasted malt and corn aroma, vague chocolate like note. Flavour is medium sweet with a solid roasted malt base going into a distinct acidic touch. Nice lingering almost breadish finish yet it stays light acidic and dry. Nice one.

Bottle at ronnies. Aroma is typically bready, brown ale malts, roasty malts. Taste is again very bready, just a big malty beast really.

A Mes rate: 50cl bottle from Kris Wines.
Mid brown with a huge head that settled to nothing all to quickly. Nice enough colour though. German maltiness in the aroma but with a nice dryness to it and some yeast, fruit and a little treacle toffee. Flavour is more of the same with strong straw and hay notes giving it a little funk. Dry and earthy finish. Not a big scorer but rather enjoyable.

Bottle. Chestnut brown with a beige head. Aromas are soft and fruity with raisins and berry. Some yeast and dusty hay, too. Quite malty. Flavours are chocolate and weetabix with some dark chocolate bitterness and roast character. Some herbal notes are also evident. Earthy and fruity with a dry, bitter finish. Very good.
