johndoughty (1614), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England Aug 22, 2008 A fairly clear wheat beer.Mundane in every aspect. Nothing really stands out other than its a reasonable wheat beer that is quite refreshing. Nothing else to say really. henrikb (1059), Aarhus, Denmark Jul 4, 2008 Hazy copper with a huge white very long lasting head; Both malt wheat and yeast in a very balanced nose. Very well composed but it could be a little more upfront, especially the yeast part; Very soft carbonation but not really big, very wheat soft, with malt bitterness and yeast harshness, balanced and well composed; Long finish with lots of mostly wheat aromas, the yeast is there as something a little harsh, but it shows very little aroma, soft very drinkable, and actually quite warm for a Weisse beer, somehow an after dinner Weisse more then a refreshing thrist killer. Thanks, Doppelganger fonefan (4333), Ulfborg, Denmark Jun 11, 2008 Bottle. Unclear hazy medium amber orange color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, wheat, light caramel, yeasty, banana, rubber. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Mes_and_Sim (4320), Highgate, Greater London, England May 6, 2008 A Mes rate: Bottle at Reading Beer Festival thanks to Fin. What an absolute cracker this is. Murky mid brown with an awesome white head and superb condition. Aroma and flavour are absolutely gorgeous. Estery banana and grin inducing sweet malt and a slight note of tobacco. Beautiful earthy notes glorious banana and delicate sweetness. Fantastic spicy bits. Glorious balance. An utterly adorable weisse. Thanks so much Fin. If I too could get this for £1.89 I’d be nailing plenty of this. Doppelganger (1114), Oxford, Oxfordshire, England Apr 30, 2008 Bottle, from the Dodgy Deli on Cowley Road.
Warm copper, abundant light tan head. Gorgeous full spice nose, but no one spice really taking over. A little green banana, touch of cloves, cardamom, the warm smell of freshly milled wheat. An appealing and composed aroma. I feel like so many hefeweisen just smack you over the head with the clove. But this one is subtle and inviting, and even half way through the glass I’m still enjoying smelling. Flavor is again nicely restrained, spice notes present, but well-integrated with firm, toasty-sweet malt. A memorably lovely beer.
Thanks to Fin for letting me know about this one--it’s a good ’un!
