3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 TheEnemy (562) - Chicago, USA - MAY 30, 2010
12oz bottle. Pours a deep amber-orange that is surprisingly clear given the amount of yeast sediment stirring about in there. Big pillowy white head forms on pour and gradually settles down to a light layer that never goes away. Big chunks of lace are left behind as the glass empties. Aroma is a burst of orange and grapefruit plus a solid caramel-malt backbone. Flavor is substantially bitter with floral, resiny hops whose citrus character is a little less prominent in the flavor than in the aroma. The caramel-y malt stays in the background and provides good support to keep the hops from getting out of control. Some good earthy yeasty goodness provides yet another flavor dimension to this multi-layered brew. A tiny hint sour-mash flavor shows up as the beer warms that seems out of place, but not enough to materially detract from the overall experience. Thick and tingly palate with long, floral/bitter aftertaste. Yep, this one’s a winner.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 portableparty (1185) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - MAR 20, 2012
Bottle to snifter (thanks arkurzynski). Pours cloudy orange with a white tight soapy head that fades to a thin collar. Aroma is sweet malt and mild citrus hops with a noticeable orange peel. Taste is bitter grapefruit and orange rind with a malty backbone. Palate is medium and chalky with a gritty dry finish.

Enjoyed on tap as part of a sampler at Ale Asylum in Madison, WI. Appearance a slight cloudy amber, light white head. Aroma of skunky hops, light citrus notes, pretty nice. Taste is definitely hoppy, strong bitterness, citrus comes out a little more, pretty good.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 jlruthven (377) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 29, 2012
On tap at Ale Asylum. Pours dark, russet orange with small white head. Not much lacing to speak of. Straight-up citrus on the nose: oranges, marmalade, peach jam. Sugared fruit. More of a hop bite on the tongue, more sweet citrus, big caramel malt presence. Sticky, lasting mouthfeel. A touch on the sweet side, but quite good.

6oz sample. This is a solid ipa with an herbal earthy kick which screams west coast that has a caramel malt backdrop with some bread in the aroma. Could use a bit more citrus to srand out but is a stellar textbook example of the style.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 doboy (336) - Morehead City, North Carolina, USA - OCT 15, 2011
Pours a caramel looking color, cloudy, with a trace of head and light lacing on the edge. Aroma was hoppy but not overpowering.
Taste was hoppy, but missing something. Mouthfeel was OK. Just an average IPA for me!

(12oz bottle thanks to bu11zeye) rich opaque orange with a lasting creamy head. Nose of sweet orange, and the peel, grapefruit. Taste of orange pulp, candied fruits, a bit of cracker and a bit dank.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 JoePeesie (749) - Long Lake, Illinois, USA - SEP 6, 2011
A decent IPA, a bit simple in the taste and nose profile. For the price its not a bad 6 pack to grab, but I wouldn’t go far out of my way to try it.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Keil (171) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 23, 2011
Pours a cloudy amber. Aroma is malt and sweet. Mouthfeel is pretty syrupy. Taste is bitter in the end with a strong malt presence. Not too hoppy in the finish. Overall just decent. Drinkable, but nothing exceptional in my opinion.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Strykzone (3132) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - MAY 15, 2011
Sampled at an ESBLS tasting. Clear and copper colored with a small off white head. A very nice aroma is citrus and caramel. Flavor is also citrus and they are fairly complex. Malt is bready and sweet. Very nice.
