Orange pour with a sticky off white head. Lots of lacing on the glass. Nose is very hoppy. Flavor is smooth and mellow. The massive supply of hops is very laid back. This goes down very quick and easy. A very light mouth feel. This isn’t what I imagined it would be. But it’s even better!

Draft at Old Fashioned. Filtered looking orange-tan color. Steady, soapy white head. Pleasant mild hop aroma. The bottle has an even more intense aroma. Very well done, this might be my new favorite beer from Ale Asylum. Captures most of the complexities of a true Belgian IPA, without the effervescent Belgian carbonation. Citra hops work quite well. The hops are bright and citrusy, not sticky or thick. An awesome beer, well done.

Tasted from a bottle purchased at Discount Liquor. Pours clear orange-amber with a rocky white head that leaves thick lace. The nose is spicy resin hops with a hint of malt sweetness and some tropical fruits. The hops are pretty subdued, providing light spiciness, with the lightly sweet malts and tropical fruits taking center stage. The body is light with average carbonation and a medium tropical finish.

UPDATED: SEP 21, 2010 Picked this up on a recent trip to Wisconsin prior to the Great Lakes Brew Fest. Poured from 12 oz bottle. Unfortunately, the aroma is like my shorts after a 15 mile run. Seriously, it smells like a high school football team’s locker room after a game. Some crazy skunky hops in there mixed with the Belgian yeast makes it smell rank, but not entirely in a horrible way, just uncomfortable. Appearance is a cloudy gold with a very present head. Taste is actually fantastic, extremely smooth and crisp, very easy to drink, great hop flavors but I’m not really noticing the yeast very much. Upon first whiff, I thought this would be memorably bad, but it’s actually memorably great. Probably the best conflicting beer I’ve had.

Pours hazy yellow with nice white head on tap at sugar maple. Aroma is nice spicy, earthy hops with some yeast. Nice earthy, spicy, piny, resinous hops leading to a biscuit, banana, spice yeast character finishing nice and bitter. Excellent brew.

Decent, hoppy. I don’t remember much about this one. Kind of fruity, I think.

From the bottle, pours a hazy orange with a a nice white foamy head and good lacing. Aroma is sweet citrus orange blossoms and floral hops. Taste is similar, floral hops, sweet malt, oranges, lightly bittering aftertaste. Light and smooth, good for a hot day.

Bottle. I’m sure this was probably bottled in April or so, but man this is some dank shit, stinky weed. Lovely spicy peppery aroma with this HUGE papaya tang, starfruit, lovely bright caramel sweetness, just a hint of resin to tie it all together. Pours a clear glowing amber with a frothy off-white sticky head. Flavor follows, delicious, light caramel, nice attenuation, leaves that bit of sugar without any stickiness, just a hint of resin, bright papaya, low bitterness, clean finish, damn good, some banana in the aftertaste. Med/light bodied with near perfect sharp fizzy carbonation. Would love to have this fresh. Great Beer!

Bottle: Pours a clear deep golden bronze with a spotty-lacing white head. Has a lightly sweet pale malty nose with a fresh citrusy hoppy character and a biscuity yeasty note. Starts with pretty good fullness and light malty sweetness with a grassy citrus hop bitterness and flavor for balance before a drier, herbal hop finish. A true to style and tasty Belgian-style IPA.
