This medium-bodied ale is dark in color and deceiving on the palate. The glassy smooth finish of this beer is your first hint that dark in color doesn't always mean heavy in stomach.

Bottle. Pours a very dark chewy brown, shiny with a fine fizzy head. Aroma is medium roasty, bit of roast acidity, lighter coffee, crunchy. Flavor follows, thinner, roast acidity, very straight forward and simple, light espresso and dark chocolate, touch of sour cream towards the finish. Medium/light bodied, light sizzling carbonation, overall watery feel.

One of a slew of Ale Asylum brews courtesy of sebletitje. Pours mahogany with thin tan head. The aroma is roasty, sweet milk chocolate, sugary sweetness, some pine hops, chocolate brownie and a dollop of coconut. The taste is a touch bitter to start with dark chocolate, chocolate brownie, a dash of pine hops and dark roasted malts. Nice and rich in flavor for the style. Yum.

On tap at the brewery, a sweet spresso aroma fills the nose. Flavors of espresso, very smooth chocolate, creamy, not so porter-esque, but an excellent, remarkably smooth beer.

Bottle bonus thanks to MrPickles! Dar kbrown/black pour, very little carbonation and a slightly chocolate aroma. Flavor was roasted malts, some coffee/chocolate and finished dry. Decent beer, slightly above average IMO.
