COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This medium-bodied ale is dark in color and deceiving on the palate. The glassy smooth finish of this beer is your first hint that dark in color doesn't always mean heavy in stomach.

Draft at the brewery. Pours an opaque dark brown, damn near black but with brown edges, with a creamy tan head. Beautiful to look at. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, brown sugar, and earthy hops. Flavor of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, smoked wood, earthy hops, dirt, and brown sugar. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a roasty finish. Very good porter, and sessionable.

Enjoyed this beer at Ale Asylum brewery in Madison, WI. Beer pours a dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of malts, chocolate, and coffee. Very smooth drinking with taste of malts, hops, and coffee. Very easy drinking porter.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear dark brown body with a small fizzy light brown head that faded to a wispy partial covering. The nose has a very classic Porter feel to it, very chocolaty with minimal burnt or roasty notes, some very light coffee, and just a touch of hoppiness. The flavor is a bit thin, but still has a nice chocolate malt profile. Nice clean finish that leaves a bit of milk chocolate and some minimal bitterness. A bit sweet up front but it dries out toward the back end. Lighter bodied and very easy drinking with soft fizzy carbonation. This was a pretty darn good Brown Porter. I could have a few of these, it would make for a nice session drinker.

On tap (2009) in a pint glass. Pours opaque brown/black with a small khaki head. The aroma is chocolate and a bit of roast. The flavor is good and smooth, though somewhat light, with chocolates, cream, and some coffee. Some decent stuff!

Thanks turdferguson for sharing. Pours dark with some light on the edges and a thin light tan head. The nose is sweet, some chocolate, caramel, earthy, English character, leafy hops. Flavor is chocolate and coffee, mild roast, very mild hop character, tad one dimensional. The palate is a bit thin.

12 oz bottle from my GTMW trip to Wisconsin. Pours a midnight over ruby, pretty dark, near opaque except for some ruby edges, a decent light brown head that stays at a decent level, laces ok. Not bad looking. Aromas are nice bitter chocolate, roasted malts, toffee and caramel, coffee, a touch of creamy sweetness, but a decent bitter hopping on the nose. Bittersweet chocolate, roast, and coffee come to mind, but smoothed over. Initial is medium bodied, not a striking initial, but moving into coffee grounds, roasted malts, a touch of ash, chocolate comes in later, bitter, not real sweet. A more roasty stout without any fruitiness. This isn’t bad at all.

This was a delightful little beer. Rich, dark color with a moderately robust aroma, but particularly nice dimensions to the flavor--a resonant chocolate streak carrying through in a suitably dry finish. The palate is average. Went very well with Mexican food. Bottle.

bottle from stfun... i think. pours a normal ruby brown porter color... only darker and almost opaque. it is capped by a fluffy tan head. lots of flowers on the nose... followed by a lactic sourness, roast, chocolate, coffee, wood and cream soda (vanilla). the flavor is pretty much the same only the floral notes dominate everything else. it is a bit sour on the finish and fairly dry throughout. medium bodied with carbonation which makes it feel prickly and sharp in the mouth. 7/4/6/3/15/3.5
