This medium-bodied ale is dark in color and deceiving on the palate. The glassy smooth finish of this beer is your first hint that dark in color doesn't always mean heavy in stomach.

Pours a deep brown basically black with a small head and some lace. The aroma is some coffee, a little cinnamon, some roasty malt, some candy sweetness, a mild hoppiness, and something odd I can’t quite put my finger on. The flavor is much like a delicious coffee drink with some mild sweetness, some fruitiness, a nice bitter hoppiness, with a good creamy character.

Draught at the pub. Pours dark brown, opaque with a creamy light brown head that leaves thick lines of filmy lacing. Aroma and flavor are dark, roasty with a dark chocolate bitter-sweetness. Slightly watery but with a nice viscuosness.

Wow, haven’t had this ina long time- forgot who great it was. Pours deep dark brown holds a thin head. Smell of sweet caramel, toasted malt, coffee and milk chocolate. Taste is big flavors of milk chocolate and coffee bitterness that fades into sweet malt- yum. Body is liter. An awesome porter. Had heavy sediment at the bottom-cool.

Draft at the brewery. Pours an opaque dark brown, damn near black but with brown edges, with a creamy tan head. Beautiful to look at. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, brown sugar, and earthy hops. Flavor of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, smoked wood, earthy hops, dirt, and brown sugar. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a roasty finish. Very good porter, and sessionable.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear dark brown body with a small fizzy light brown head that faded to a wispy partial covering. The nose has a very classic Porter feel to it, very chocolaty with minimal burnt or roasty notes, some very light coffee, and just a touch of hoppiness. The flavor is a bit thin, but still has a nice chocolate malt profile. Nice clean finish that leaves a bit of milk chocolate and some minimal bitterness. A bit sweet up front but it dries out toward the back end. Lighter bodied and very easy drinking with soft fizzy carbonation. This was a pretty darn good Brown Porter. I could have a few of these, it would make for a nice session drinker.

On tap (2009) in a pint glass. Pours opaque brown/black with a small khaki head. The aroma is chocolate and a bit of roast. The flavor is good and smooth, though somewhat light, with chocolates, cream, and some coffee. Some decent stuff!

Thanks turdferguson for sharing. Pours dark with some light on the edges and a thin light tan head. The nose is sweet, some chocolate, caramel, earthy, English character, leafy hops. Flavor is chocolate and coffee, mild roast, very mild hop character, tad one dimensional. The palate is a bit thin.
