Poured clear dark brown color with an average fizzy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate roasted coffee and chocolate malty aroma. 3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thanks to Steve for the bottle.
A: The beer pours almost black in color with a finger of off-white head.
S: A nice roasted malt aroma to this one. Some sweet toffee and molasses. There is some dark chocolate and even a bit of sweeter milk chocolate. Maybe a little vanilla.
T: Slightly watery, but otherwise good. Lots of dark chocolate and cocoa with plenty of roasted malt. As with the aroma, there is some subtle vanilla character to it, too.
M: On the lighter side of medium with medium carbonation.
O: A nice aroma to this and a fairly good flavor too, just a bit watery.

Bottle bought is Wisconsin. Pours black, with a thickish oily look. Bold chocolate and roast aromas. I got more chocolate than coffee in flavour. A good example of a solid American porter. Good drinkability, and way to end the meal.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the brewpub on 6/22/07: Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a lightly lacing dense tan head. Sweet lightly sugary caramel malty nose has some roasted malt and mild butterscotch. Body starts fairly full with well-dissolved CO2 and some sticky caramel malt along with a touch of milk chocolate toward a slightly thinner, lightly toasted nutty finish. Could use a little more malty sweetness and body.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at the Ale Asylum as "Disporterly Conduct". Poured clear mahogany with a ring of beige head. Nose was of lightly-roasted milk chocolate and not much more... found a not-too-pleasant dark sweetness as this warmed up. Lightly-roasted milk chocolate and other grainy sweetness in the flavor.. but it never really came together. Rather light on the palate with grainy chocolate bitterness at the finish.
