This was the second sample of the night. So far the Asylum is two for two on beers that will drive people crazy.
Aroma / Appearance - A cloudy body looked like someone had dropped an egg yolk into it and then mixed in scents of bananas, wheat, spice and white grapes.
Flavor / Palate - A first impression of dried banana chips yields to a wheaty bitterness interspersed with white grapes, pineapples and cedar chips. The slightly dry finish left a bitter impression that soothed the throat. This was an extremely easy drinker as it should have been. If you can make it to the brewery, this one should be on your list to try.
esjaygee (830), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Sep 16, 2008 On Tap at the Great Lakes Brewfest. Cloufy banana yellow with a thin off-white head. Aroma of grains, toasted malt, barley and light banana. Taste of banana, grain, rye and wheat. Finishes semi dry and mildly spicy. Not a standard hefe IMO, but not bad either. phishpond417 (1459), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jun 4, 2008 Pours a cloudy golden colour, with a full sticky white head. Bananna, orange peel, mangoe and bubblegum in the aroma. Light carbonation, creamy mouthfeel with a long fruity finish. madcow75 (413), Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA May 23, 2008 Draft at the brewery. Pours very hazy yellow with a thin white head. Familiar aroma of banana and cloves, but when cold some garbage type aroma which faded after it warmed. Flavor is pretty typical, banana and cloves with some bread. Not bad. keoki182 (304), West Bend, Wisconsin, USA Jan 20, 2008 Definitely hazy yellow in appearance. Smells like cloves and banana. Flavor is much of the same, classic hefeweizen in my experience. I enjoyed this one. CaptainCougar (4664), Rockville, Maryland, USA Nov 18, 2007 On tap at the brewpub on 6/22/07: Pours a cloudy golden with a wispy-lacing white head. Aroma of sweet malted wheaty clove, lemon citrus and authentic bready yeast. Body starts lightly sweet with some citrus balance and banana flavor thinning some toward a doughy yeasty finish with some clove spice. A pretty good hefeweizen.
