Eleven separate additions of cascade hops give this American pale ale its lush citrus aroma and bold hop flavor without crazy bitterness.

Draft at hotel bar in Madison, WI. Pours a copper color with nice looking offwhite head. Nose is popping with citrusy hops and a kiss of sweet malt. Fresh hop aroma. On taste, quite fresh, light crystal malt character that doesn’t really shove your nose in it. Hops dominate here without getting astringent. Pretty nice APA, actually.

Poured dark copper with a thick white to off-white head and lots of lacing. The aroma was stale hops and light citrus. The flavor was malts, stale hops and citrus. Relatively thin body with more dryness than sweetness at the finish. Just OK.

Pours orange with white head, aroma is nice full citrus and pine hops. Taste up front is some orange and grapefruit leading into some pine, a simple bready malt base and finishing clean and bitter. Nice solid IPA.

12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass at the end of my tour of the brewery. Pours a cloudy amber color with a rocky, thick off-white head that laces the glass. Nice aroma of piney hops, herbal notes, and grapefruit citrus- so simple and fresh. Those notes all show up in the flavor, along with some caramel malts and resin. Light-medium bodied, with average carbonation and a really smooth mouthfeel for the style. Good balance of bitterness and sweetness, getting sweeter later. Man, this goes down easy. Maybe I just had a super fresh bottle since I was at the brewery, but this is great.

Have had this beer many times and recently went to the Ale Asylum and enjoyed a fresh glass. Fantastic hop aroma of grapefruit and citrus. Fantastic amber colored pour with a nice white foamy head, the smell of the hops hits you with the pour. Very smooth and refreshing, a wonderful beer! I love the Ale Asylum!

bottle-didnt take much notes on this one during a beer tasting back in 08. hazy orange with a sudsy off-white head. big hoppy nose-citrus, grapefruit and orange with some cheese notes. flavors are dry resiny hops with some lite malts under the hops. gives nice earthy hop burps after drinking for a while. this would be a great session beer if i had it on a regular basis.

Had this back in October. Picked up while out of town for Darkness day. Somewhat hazy gold. White head. Smell is nice tropical fruit, peach, juicy citrus hops. Mouth is likable. Sweet. Pale malts compliment well. Nice bite, crisp in the middle, with a clean finish. Sessionable. Light. Solid. Some herbal notes. Enjoyed.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden orange color with a nice inch of fluffy head. Aroma is hoppy, with a bit of pine and fruit. Carbonation is just lively enough, but not too "fizzy" in the mouth. Has a nice strong hop finish, but not overly bitter.

12 oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy copper body with a one finger fizzy white head that fell to a thin wispy covering. The nose is fairly bright citrusy hops, but there’s also a nice softness to it from the yeast profile. Some muted caramel maltiness below the hops. Stale iced tea like crystal malt dominates the flavor with the soft citrusy hops playing an accent role. The yeast dulls things up a bit on the flavor, especially on the finish. Soft carbonation with a very light caramel malt stickiness. Overall it’s not too terrible, it’s just not quite aggressive enough to satisfy my hop craving tonight Combined with the heavy crystal malt, it just doesn’t work as a whole.
