COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A blend of seven unique malts give this brown ale an earthy aroma and a flavor reminiscent of caramel with a slightly creamy finish.

Pours copper/brown with a dense tan head. The aroma has smooth toasted malt, cream and light nuttiness. Medium / full body with some light prickly carbonation. The flavor starts with rich toasted malt, nutty flavor, phenolic spice and hints of coffee. Fairly rich for the style. The finish is very nutty, toasty and smooth. Very nice brown ale.

One of a slew of Ale Asylum brews courtesy of sebletitje. Pours light mahogany to brown with thin tan head. The aroma is roasty, modestly nutty, dark fruity esters and black strap molasses. The taste is sweet molasses, sweet malts, some malt roastiness, a mild level of burnt malts and then sweet dark fruity esters rounding things out. A touch on the estery side for the style.

I used to drink more Browns but have grown to like more complex bites of hoppier beers. What I like in a brown is smoothness, softness and full texture. This brown is a combination of what Iíve just described but in doing that doesnít really hit the mark for a brown or and IPA. Itís kind of itís own category. In and of itself, though it is a very tasty beer and Iíll buy it again on occasion.

light brown, medium tan head. aroma is malty with light earthly elements, yeasty notes. flavors, bready malts, light palate with touch of chocolate and cocoa powder, light bitter hop finish with some dark fruits. Palate is thin, with a mild mocha/caramel approach and earthly notes.

Scubatrip (596) - Annandale, Virginia, USA - AUG 23, 2010
On tap at the brewery, pours clear with a nice head. Smells watery and malty. Taste is thickly malty, with molasses and brown sugar. I almost forget itís a brown ale until the aftertaste. Iím not usually a fan of brown ales, but this is pretty good.

tmoreau (2424) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - AUG 17, 2010
On tap at the brewpub and first served to a shaker with an overly cloudy appearance, and on request, repoured with a hazy, amber/brown hue, with modest off white head foam, and dots and dashes of lacing. Blame the first pour on yeast and youth. The aroma was light yeast, off course, toasted malt, nuts, caramel, and light sweetness. The flavor added some grain, moderate to low hop bitterness, and average carbonation, in a medium body. A decent brew.

On tap at brewery, pours amber/brown with white head, aroma is carmel and malt, very smooth mouthfeel and taste is delicious.

zer0crew (119) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 3, 2010
Bottle. Pours an amber-brown with a very thin film of patchy head. Aroma is very malty sweet with some hints of nut. This beer also appears to be bottle conditioned with lots and lots of yeast clumps. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.

boFNjackson (4133) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUN 16, 2010
Bottle... Poured a deep brownish with hints of amber and burnt orange with an off-white head. Aroma was buttery, malty, toasted grains, hazelnut and toffee. Lots of toasted grains in the flavor, sticky mouthfeel accentuated the sweetness of the toffee, caramel, almond and hazelnut-like flavors. A dab of hops just to offer a slight, grassy undertone to it all.

Bottle. Pours a murky dark brown with a big off-white head. Aroma is sweet, with malt, dark fruits, caramel. Taste is sweet and a bit thin, of malt, juicy plums. Lingering watery sweetness. Not bad.
