COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This nutbrown alte is velvety smooth with a rich caramel aroma. We blend seven different malts for just the right touch of sweetness and a creamy finish worth craving.

On tap at the brewery, pours clear with a nice head. Smells watery and malty. Taste is thickly malty, with molasses and brown sugar. I almost forget itís a brown ale until the aftertaste. Iím not usually a fan of brown ales, but this is pretty good.

tmoreau (2310) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - AUG 17, 2010
On tap at the brewpub and first served to a shaker with an overly cloudy appearance, and on request, repoured with a hazy, amber/brown hue, with modest off white head foam, and dots and dashes of lacing. Blame the first pour on yeast and youth. The aroma was light yeast, off course, toasted malt, nuts, caramel, and light sweetness. The flavor added some grain, moderate to low hop bitterness, and average carbonation, in a medium body. A decent brew.

zer0crew (119) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 3, 2010
Bottle. Pours an amber-brown with a very thin film of patchy head. Aroma is very malty sweet with some hints of nut. This beer also appears to be bottle conditioned with lots and lots of yeast clumps. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.

Bottle... Poured a deep brownish with hints of amber and burnt orange with an off-white head. Aroma was buttery, malty, toasted grains, hazelnut and toffee. Lots of toasted grains in the flavor, sticky mouthfeel accentuated the sweetness of the toffee, caramel, almond and hazelnut-like flavors. A dab of hops just to offer a slight, grassy undertone to it all.

Pours a reddish brown with a nice enough looking head that seems to be shrinking quite quickly. Certainly this has a pleasant enough aroma that is at once chocolaty and has some bits of molasses & roasted nuts. At the same time it smells a lot like the raw crystal malt that I found in my cupboard tonight. The flavor has a good enough bitter hop kick to make it interesting, with some good malty chocolate and roasty tones getting in there as well. Itís well balanced and easy to drink indeed.

NobleSquirrel (3437) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 12, 2010
Draft at Madisonís in Madison, WI. Pours a paleish brown with white head. Nose is toasty and fresh, bready grains dominate with a hint of herbal hops. On taste, the grains really play well, keeping it fresh, never tart. Light cocoa and toasted bread notes. Finishes dry. Very good brown ale.
