Ughsmash (3071), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Nov 26, 2006 On tap at Ale Asylum. Poured a deeper reddish-brown with a short ring of off-white head. Nose was of darker sweetness (chocolate, coffee, berries, and some nuttiness).. faint herbal hoppiness too. Sweet and tasty in the drink.. coffee, nuttiness, and grainy herbal notes. A bit grainy on the palate, but it managed to flow well. Enjoyed the sweet finish. Good stuff.
bu11zeye (3777), Frisco, Texas, USA Oct 7, 2008 (Draught) Pours a murky brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of caramel, nuts, toffee, and toasted bread. Flavor of toasted malt, caramel, and nuts. TomDecapolis (2472), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 15, 2008 Thanks to hopdog for this bottle from WI. Pours a hazy brown with orange/golden notes and a medium creamy tan head that left some lacing. Aroma of caramel, nuts, toasted malt, brown sugar, light citrus notes, toffee and lightly floral. Flavor of nuts, toffee, caramel, toasted malt, chocolate notes, pine, light citrus, dark fruits and brown sugar. BBB63 (3810), La Porte, Indiana, USA Sep 7, 2008 Bottle and served in pint glass: Deep amber brownish hue with a moderate creamy off-white head and good lace. The aroma has notes of walnuts, caramel, toast, sugar, light raisins, and an herbal vapour. The taste is rather straight forward malty sweetness and hint of nutty background. There is a hint of bitters towards the finish but there is also a hint of butterscotch as well. The mouth feel is smooth and medium-bodied. Honestly a forgettable brew, standard stuff. twindadplus2 (359), Wisconsin, USA Sep 3, 2008 Slightly hazy dark brown with a creamy, light brown head. Nutty, roasted malt and toasted grain aromas with a whiff of hops. Flavor of sweet, roasted malt, candied nuts and a touch of hops bitterness at the end. Nice tingle of carbonation and a nice creamy palate. noncaloric (102), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Aug 20, 2008 Updated: Sep 3, 2008Bottle, dimple mug. Pours a hazy red-brown, with scant pale creamy head. Bold toasty malt aromas, notes of apple blossom, also a deep earthiness. Not at all viscous, but a vigorous effervescence on the tongue displaces any feelings of wateriness. Initial impessions of barley, caramel, and bright coffee, followed bitterness (hops, raw peanuts), touch of a musty musty element. Smooth finish, hazelnut coffee, caramel mouthfeel. A bit lacking in harmony among the parts, but really a flavorful brew.
