Smooth little brown ale, sweet and balanced. I was a little disappointed in this brown ale, I guess I was expecting more flavor. A simple session brew.

Draft at AA. Pours murky brown with very little head. Nice lacing. Mild caramel on the aroma. Taste is caramel and nutty.

Has a great aroma of bread and caramel. Pours a nice rich black color. Has a really nice blend of smoky, doughy, caramel, malt, with a touch of sweet fruit. The only negative of this beer, is its a little thin. A little more alcohol, and a bit thicker and this would be a 4+. It has such a nice flavor I wish they would crank it up a bit.

(bottle) Nothing like drinking a brown ale on a stiflingly hot and humid day. Pours a deep reddish-brown color with a medium sized cream colored head that retains well. Yep, there’s definitely caramel here, but there’s also a strong component of roasted peanuts as well that elicits a craving for an iced cream concoction containing these two components. Also present is some light roast coffee; not the good stuff, but the kind you get at a Caribou that presents itself as being less charred than its dark roasted brethren. A faint whiff of something vegetal here kind of interrupts the good aromatic vibes. Flavor holds a good amount of caramel, again more light roast coffee, some roasted peanuts, and a little hint of stir fried vegetables with cashews (oddly enough, that’s not a bad thing here). Mouthfeel is pretty full and creamy and the carb could stand to be toned down just a tad, but overall this is an above-average brown ale.

This one is a malt bomb. Sweet caramel and nutty on the nose. Smooth on the palate, with caramel, bread, and nuts. Finishes semi-sweet.

Bottle. Pours hazy chestnut, medium tan head, dissipates quickly leaving decent lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, just a touch of smoke, nutty, burned caramel, pumpernickel. Flavor is the same, medium sweet, minimal bitterness, nutty and bready, light roast. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel.

This is a brown ale of the older school variety from before people started putting tons of hops in every single beer and it is pretty decent at that. It pours a murky brown color w/ only a small ring of head and a few spots of lace. The nose is sweet malts and a touch of grassy, herbal hops. The flavor of this is a bit on the sweet side but it’s not cloying or overbearing, just w/ a nice subtle malt backbone. The carbonation is mild which suits the style and it finishes just a bit sweet and sticky on the palate w/ some lingering bitterness and astringency. This is a nice and drinkable brown ale if it had just a little more malt character w/o being any sweeter, I think it would be excellent.

Pours a brown in color with a thinner, lingering, light beige head. The aroma has nuts and caramel, bread, and some floral impressions. Nothing to complex. The taste is a bit sweet and is heavy in caramel. It has some earthy malts, a little bit of nuttiness, and maple. Simple here, yet pretty good. Aftertaste is caramel. Medium in body, and chewy in texture. Average carbonation. This one isn’t very special, but its alright.
