A cloudy, dark, reddish amber body is topped by a small cap of cream colored foam. Wet, sudsy lacing leaves minimal spotting behind. The aroma is nice, showing brown sugar, candied pecans, caramel, vanilla, and even hints of golden raison. Some perfumy, floral hops add a touch of bite to the nose. Flavors are smooth and well integrated, pecan and brown sugar working together nicely. There’s a lactic creaminess to this, as well a mild, earthy hop finish. Sweet, but not too sweet. Nice balance. The palate is a little on the light side, but very well carbonated and easy to drink. Overall, this is a nice little nut brown.

12 oz bottle bought in Madison, WI. Nose- sweet, caramel, nut-bread. Flavor - roasted nuts, caramel, slight chocolate pudding. Great looking rusty-brown color with a small lasting head. Drank slighty warm as taste seemed to pop more. A very nice and drinkable beer.

12 oz bottle. Pours a nice copper color with a small head. Some lacing. Aroma is mostly caramel, with some nut notes. Flavor is very malty, with caramel, nut, and toast notes. Kind of a buttery finish too. Palate is a bit on the thin side. Very drinkable, and I could see it being paired with a meal easily.

Brown with thin off-white head, diminishing with particulates galore floating about the sea of brown ale in my shaker glass. Aroma of caramel, roasted malts and nuts. Smooth, malty, creamy to go with a medium palate. Tastes decent enough and finishes with a little semi-sweet bitter finish.

UPDATED: SEP 3, 2008 Bottle, dimple mug. Pours a hazy red-brown, with scant pale creamy head. Bold toasty malt aromas, notes of apple blossom, also a deep earthiness. Not at all viscous, but a vigorous effervescence on the tongue displaces any feelings of wateriness. Initial impessions of barley, caramel, and bright coffee, followed bitterness (hops, raw peanuts), touch of a musty musty element. Smooth finish, hazelnut coffee, caramel mouthfeel. A bit lacking in harmony among the parts, but really a flavorful brew.

Sports a wicked label. Is reddish-brown or cola in color. Smells very nutty and of caramel with piney, citrusy hops. Tastes predominantly of bitter nuts and has a raw, toasted flavor that is refreshing and unique. The same flavor profile shows up in their other beers but here it fits to style with grace.

Pours clear reddish with off white head, aroma has notes of nuts, caramel, earth, spice, chocolate hints with more of a cocoa powder, some slight grass and biscuit. Taste has notes of lots of almond, hazelnut notes, some caramel, toffee, slight notes of earth and spice, finishing slightly dry. Nice brew.

On tap at the brewpub. Lots of caramel and sweet malts on this one. Add this one to the list, that always tasted better than I think it should/would.
